While a few tricks will simplify your makeup routine, you will need the right makeup essentials to create on-fleek and even casual everyday looks. Unfortunately, without the right essentials, your makeup routine will be a bit chaotic and messy. And while your essentials bag should contain basics such as the correct shade of foundation, eyeliner, mascara, your favorite shades of lipstick, and a few eyeshadow palettes, you will also need a few brushes.
You won’t be able to apply your makeup correctly without the right brushes. And because choosing the right brushes can be a bit overwhelming, especially when considering how many variants there are out there, we have listed the five essential brushes that everyone needs.
Round Flat-Tipped Foundation Brush
A foundation brush is a rounded, flat-tipped brush that is used to apply foundation. There are several out there and various designs as well. Some prefer to use foundation sponges, although sponges are significantly more tricky to clean properly. And you will have to replace them frequently as a result. A foundation brush will last substantially longer and is an excellent investment for flawless foundation applications every time.
Concealer Brush
A concealer brush is small, flat, and essential. This essential makeup brush is used to apply concealer to areas where dark marks and imperfections are visible. And, of course, to apply under eye concealer. A good concealer brush also has long bristles, as this will ensure a soft application.
Powder Brush
A powder brush is essential for applying bronzer, blush, and highlighter. These round fluffy brushes are generally pretty large, and the kabuki brush is an excellent choice in terms of quality. This type of brush must be fluffy and rounded to disperse makeup powder products evenly. Unfortunately, a foundation brush cannot be used in place of a powder brush as the results will be more harsh and streaky.
Angled Eyeliner/Eyebrow Brush
Even if you generally use pencil or felt-tip eyeliner products, an angled eyeliner/eyebrow brush is convenient to have. You can use this brush to create the perfect winged eyeliner effect or fill in your brows. Be sure to opt for quality when choosing an angled makeup brush, as cheaper brushes won’t last all that long, and the hairs tend to fall out quite quickly when using them to apply makeup and when attempting to clean them.
Eyeshadow Blender Brush
The perfect eyeshadow brush is paddle-shaped, soft, and made of natural hair. The brush must be pretty fluffy as well to ensure you can blend your eyeshadow well. However, you can also opt for a flat paddle-shaped brush and a rounded fluffy blended brush if you wish. The blending brush is the essential option as you can create various looks and ensure no harsh lines are visible.
Having the right set of brushes will ensure you can pull off any makeup looks you are after. Just as a painter requires the right brushes to create masterpieces, the same is true when it comes to the art of makeup; your looks will only be as good as the tools you have available.
