5 Tips for Taking a Trip to Italy

Italy is a popular tourist destination for good reason – it has a comfortable, Mediterranean climate, history by the bucket load, some of the finest art galleries in the world and plenty of concerts, fashion shows, and more to keep you busy. And we haven’t even mentioned the pizza.

In fact, the biggest problem with taking a trip to Italy is figuring out the itinerary. There are just so many options and so many destinations that it can be hard to figure out what to do and where to go. That’s why today we’re sharing just a few of our own favorite options. Let’s get started.

Taking a Trip to Italy

1.   Go Roman

If you’re interested in the historic side of Italy, be sure to research quick getaways to Rome and Venice long before you book and board the flight. That way, you’ll already have all of the information you need tucked away in your brain so that when you visit the Colosseum and the capital of the Roman Empire, you’ll know the real significance of what you’re looking at.

2.   Cruise

One of the best things about the country’s Mediterranean location is that it opens up the potential for you to take an Italy cruise and explore the country by boat. You can either cruise to Italy from another destination or you can take a slow interior cruise such as from Venice to Rome, stopping off along the way.

3.   Events

Italy is home to all sorts of events, from Milan Fashion Week to Carnevale, medieval processions and major music festivals. If there’s a particular event that you just can’t miss, be sure to book your trip to coincide with it so that you can tick two items off your bucket list at the same time.

4.   Experience the cuisine

Italy is famous for its food, and with good reason. As one of the gastronomic capitals of the world, it attracts more than its fair share of food tourists, and there’s no reason why you can’t be one of them. Some tourism providers even have dedicated food tours where they’ve done all of the hard work picking restaurants for you.

5.   Go town to town

There’s so much to Italy that it’s almost impossible for you to see it all. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying though, and going from town to town and city to city can be a good way to see as many of the sites that the country has to offer as possible. Plus, there’s pretty good public transit to help you to get around.

The ideas on this list are far from comprehensive, and the goal here is to give you a few ideas on what’s out there so that you can carry out further research of your own to decide what you want to do when you visit the country. Italy has so much to offer that no matter what you’re looking for, you’re sure to be able to find it.
