1. Studio Ghibli Museum

One of the most nostalgic places to go in Tokyo is the Studio Ghibli Museum. Here you can find all of the beloved characters you grew up with and even watch a special short film that’s only shown at the museum. This spot is so popular that all tickets must be bought in advance and some dates sell out within minutes.

One of the best parts about this Tokyo tourist attraction is that the landscape and architecture is also designed to feel like you’re in a Ghibli movie. Visiting this museum will be a day you’ll never forget.

2. Akihabara

Out of all of the tourist attractions in Tokyo, Akihabara is one stop you can’t miss out on since it’s affectionately referred to as ‘Anime Heaven’ or ‘Anime City.’ This is the biggest anime and manga shopping district in the world, which means you can spend days wandering through all of the unique goodies. You’ll have a blast checking out all of the merch, arcades, cafes, real-life anime locations, and so much more.

3. Tokyo One Piece Tower

No trip to Japan would be complete without visiting the Tokyo One Piece Tower. At this attraction, you can shop at the official One Piece store, eat at Sanji’s Oresama Restaurant, and even enter a special theme park. Since Tokyo One Piece Tower is located inside of Tokyo Tower, there are plenty of other amazing things to do while you’re in the area.

4. Pokémon Cafe and Pokémon Center

One of the cutest things to see in Japan is the Pokémon Cafe and Pokémon Center that’s next door. If you grew up watching the anime, collecting cards, and snuggling with Pokémon stuffed animals, eating at the Pokémon Cafe will become one of your happiest memories.

After you’re done eating, you can head over to the Pokémon Center and look at the large display of merch. With so many fun items to choose from, you’ll have a hard time not buying out the entire store.

5. Odaiba

If you’re a fan of Attack on Titan, Digimon, or Gundam, you need to set aside an entire afternoon to visit Odaiba. At this attraction you can find a cafe, statues, real-life anime locations, and even a VR site. Make sure you bring along a camera to capture the entire event.
