It is common knowledge that people spend a lot of time on their bed every day. We go to bed every night for a restful sleep, we relax on it during weekends, and sometimes we even have our morning breakfast on our air mattress. In short, our beds make an essential part of our life.
When we set up our home, one of the first things we do is buy a mattress. But do we do our homework before buying it? How do we know the bed we are buying is good for our family and us? Please read this article to understand the little things necessary for our first air mattress.
1. Look for comfort
Comfort and not luxury should be the right factor while buying a mattress. Our bodies are made in a particular way, and each one of us has a different comfort level. A bed meant for your friend (who is obese) may not work out for you.
Let’s look at another person who has a spinal disorder. He needs a particular mattress. For you, the same product might not work even though it has vibrant colors, soft fabric etc.
The low point we are making is: Look for your comfort and don’t ape somebody else.
2. Your comfort
Don’t get swayed by advertisements. If a newspaper ad tells one mattress to be the best one in the world, don’t get impressed. Check out that product which is right for you. It’s your health at stake. It’s your sleep, your spine that matters. Many people take ads as the final truth, and this can be a costly mistake. Remember, using a poorly designed mattress can not only spoil your sleep but affect your health as well.
3. Check your size
If you are a singleton and yet feel restricted by your mattress, go in for a Queen-sized bed. This way, you will get ample space to rest and relax. On the other hand, if you have a partner, a King size mattress will work. To choose your right mattress, click here. Not buying a mattress for your size is a mistake, avoid it.
4. Read reviews
While second-party opinions are valuable, you will do yourself a favor by reading online reviews of the various kinds of mattresses available. There are several review-based websites where you can look out for opinions. However, those are only opinions, and ultimately you will have to decide for yourself. Maybe, it is a good idea to have a look with your friends and relatives on this subject.
There are a few additional factors for consideration.
1. Before buying your air mattress, test it personally. If your supplier is okay, bring this product home and sleep on it for a couple of nights. This experience would be handy.
2. Secondly, check the fiber of your mattress. Is it suitable for your body? Would it cause rashes, itching or allergy in the future? Your skin should be comfortable with your new bed.
If you have small babies, you need to look at the fabric again. Babies’ skins are super sensitive to polyester and other fibers. If possible, buy a child-friendly air mattress. Don’t trust the firmness labels of the various mattresses. We do not have a uniform firmness labeling system, so the firmness label of one bed might not apply to another. Use your judgment here. Don’t go by the weight of your mattress. A light bed may not mean much to you, whereas a heavy one is just right for you.
Lastly, before buying your air mattress, check whether it is intact or has cuts etc.
