6 Things You Need to Know Before Buying A Wig
Beauty, it comes with a price tag, and my Nana always said, it pays to look this good. While I didn’t always understand her logic, there was always one thing about it, she always looked nice. While the definition of looking nice changes by the decade one thing I know is that when you look good, you feel good. The same could be said for looking great and feeling great. While I am a minimalist when it comes to beauty routines, the one thing I’ve noticed through the years is that you pay for what you get.
Today we are going to be talking about wigs (I know, I know, you don’t want the world to know you are looking at them.) First, and foremost I want to tell you that wigs help a woman look and feel her best and there is no shame in that my friends. The older we get, the more our bodies and hair changes and even though I’m just in my 40’s my hair is already starting to thin. However, the way wigs are now made, we can rock a wig that has curly hair, straight hair, synthetic hair and so much more and no one would be any the wiser. Plus you can find a wide variety of wigs at https://www.keswigs.com/.
Here’s a list of 6 things you need to know before buying a wig.
Match Your Skin Tones
Be sure to keep in mind your skin tones and pick a color of wig that compliments your tones. Take the wig out into the sunlight to see what it looks like against your skin. Please make sure you get at least one wig that is your natural hair color (or close to it) so that way it doesn’t shock you or your family members when you wear it. If you can’t find one in the correct shade, head to your local beauty school where they can most likely match the wig hair color to your hair color if you buy a virgin hair wig.
Size Matters
Size Matters when purchasing a wig because everyone has a different sized head and you want your wig to be comfortable. Wigs.com has an in-depth How to Find Your Wig Size tutorial that makes it easy as 1-2-3 to ensure you have the perfect fit.
What hairstyle fits your lifestyle?
Short hair, medium length, or long hair? Wigs have the same problem as natural hair does, and have a tendency to tangle when styled longer. In the summer it will be warmer also than regular hair, so keep that in mind when purchasing a wig. Choose the right length for your lifestyle and then have it styled to fit your face, so you look and feel your best.
Is it Natural Looking?
If you are wanting a more natural look go with a lace front wig and a silk cap because it will give you a more natural looking scalp.
Quality over quantity
A quality wig should last you 4-6 months, but if it is a heat friendly synthetic, they last only 2-3 months. However, don’t let that deter you, it just means you will be able to change your hairstyle more frequently than you would if you were wearing your real hair. Just like everything else, you pay for what you get. Go for quality over quantity every time you purchase a new wig because you deserve to look and feel the very best.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and find out what it is made of for sure before you buy it. Do you want to be able to style it? Color it? If you’re going to be able to style it with heat, you have to make sure that it is heat friendly synthetic hair which will allow you to go from curly to straight giving you the ability to wear different hairstyles.
