A Monster Calls is a Visually Spectacular Masterpiece
*I received a trip and hotel accommodations to Los Angeles to preview this film, but as always opinions are 100% my own.
A Monster Calls is a heartwarming, emotional roller coaster of a movie that is a brilliant masterpiece for all to enjoy. Just remember to pack extra tissues because I bawled like a baby. In fact there were very few dry eyes in the theater when we were there to pre-screen the movie. I had expected to cry a little, but nothing could have prepared me A Monster Calls. I would also like to say that I went into it expecting it to be scarier than I would normally like, but to my relief it wasn’t really scary at all. I did jump at one point in the movie, but only because it was startling not scary. So, why should you watch A Monster Calls?
You should watch A Monster Calls because it is:
- A Monster Calls is visually spectacular masterpiece.
- It’s an emotionally charged story that everyone can relate to in one way or another. For me it brought back memories of my Aunt Judy being sick with Cancer.
- Imagination and reality aren’t that far from each other if you really think about it.
- The movie is as rich and imaginative as the book is which makes it even more special.
- Art, life and an incredible story comes to life in a brilliant masterpiece
- If you have courage, faith and trust you can overcome anything.
- And we all need to remember that we have the power inside us to conquer anything standing in our way, we just have to believe in ourselves, do our best and reach for the stars.

Summary:
12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) is dealing with far more than other boys his age. His beloved and devoted mother (Felicity Jones) is ill. He has little in common with his imperious grandmother (Sigourney Weaver). His father (Toby Kebbell) has resettled thousands of miles away. But Conor finds a most unlikely ally when the Monster (portrayed by Liam Neeson in performance-capture and voiceover) appears at his bedroom window one night.
