All Natural Methods for Looking and Feeling Your Best

Health & Beauty

The advertising world would have you believe that the key to beauty is within expensive creams and supplements. The truth is that true beauty cannot be bought and that it has far more to do with the way we take care of our bodies than anything else.

Making sure your body has what it needs to be naturally beautiful will not only help you look your best, but you will also feel your best as well. Finding healthy snacks can help you take care of your body and give yourself the necessary vitamins. Here are some tips that you can do to help support your body.

Skin

We put our skin through so much, and it can sometimes act up in return. Whether you are fighting acne, wrinkles, discoloration, or sagging, there are endless possibilities of problems that can crop up at different stages in your life. No matter what your problems are, there are natural steps you can take to promote healthy, glowing skin.

Over-washing and under-washing your face can have disastrous repercussions. The oils your face produces naturally are beneficial for your skin’s health, but you also have to keep all the allergens and dirt that you encounter all day away. It can vary depending on your skin type and lifestyle, but usually, it is a good idea to wash your face twice a day.

You should also have a good skincare routine to take care of your skin – especially on your face. A good moisturizer will help your skin from drying out. If your skin gets dry, your body will produce more oil to counteract the dryness. That oil will clog pores and cause more buildup on your skin. You should look for a moisturizer that is oil-free and lightweight to avoid provoking breakout.

You should always use sunscreen when spending time outdoors. The UV rays from the sun will dry out your skin and damage it in other ways as well. Your skin can become damaged permanently, dryness, and discoloration. Using oil-free sunscreen can keep your skin looking luminous for a long time.

You can also promote healthy skin through the use of supplements and vitamins in your diet. Vitamin D helps promote the growth of healthy cells, and this includes skin cells. You can increase your vitamin D intake by getting some extra exposure to the sun, eating foods that have been fortified with vitamin D, or eating food like salmon, tuna, or cod that are naturally high in vitamin D.

Vitamin C is also found in high levels in skin cells and is a good promoter of collagen production that helps keep your skin healthy. Taking vitamin C can help increase the effectiveness of sunscreens and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dry skin. Eating more citrus foods, strawberries, broccoli, and spinach can increase your natural vitamin C intake.

Hair

Everyone has different hair, so keeping your hair healthy will greatly depend on your hair type, but there are some steps that everyone should consider. Once you have a baseline, then you can build on that to your specific needs.

You should avoid shampoos and other hair products that contain sulfates. Sulfates are found in a lot of shampoos and can weaken your follicles over time. This can cause breakage and thinning. It is especially important to avoid sulfates if your hair is color treated because they can pull the pigment from your hair. Sulfate-free shampoos are just as effective at removing dirt and debris from your hair, but it is better for the health of your hair.

You should also take care to condition your hair each time you wash it. Washing your hair removes the natural oils and nutrients produced by your scalp, so conditioning makes sure that your hair doesn’t overcompensate and get too oily. You should also consider doing a weekly deep condition to keep your hair even shinier.

You should also take care when you style your hair. Avoid heat whenever possible because they can greatly increase the risk of split ends. It can also cause breakage and a dry, dull sheen for your hair. If you cannot avoid the heat on some days, then you can use a heat protectant spray to help mitigate the damage.

You know that the sun is bad for your skin, but it is also bad for your hair. It can fade your hair if it is color-treated, but it can also cause excess drying that will lead to breakage. Using a leave-in conditioner when you are outside and wearing a hat can help give your hair the added moisture and protection that it deserves.

Vitamin A is important for all cell growth, and this extends to the hair. Since the hair is the fastest growing tissue in your body, it requires the most vitamin A. If you do not have enough vitamin A, then you can see negative effects like hair loss. You can find vitamin A naturally in sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, spinach, and kale. You can also find it in milk, eggs, and yogurt.

B vitamins are another important supplement for healthy hair growth. B vitamins help make red blood cells which are responsible for carrying oxygen and nutrients to the hair and scalp. B vitamins can be found in whole-grain foods, almonds, meat, fish, and dark, leafy greens. If you suspect that you may be deficient in B vitamins, you may want to consider taking a supplement.

Teeth

Keeping your gums and teeth healthy can go a long way towards helping your entire body stay healthy. Brushing twice a day and floss at least once daily is important if you want to protect against cavities and gum diseases. Not only is how often you brush important, but the way you brush is important also. You need to brush gently instead of aggressively. Brush in small circular motions for about 2-3 minutes. You should also use mouthwash daily to kill bacteria.

Going to the dentist regularly can help prevent disease and find treatment if you do have issues. You can take care of issues quickly and seek corrective procedures like veneers if needed.

Calcium is an important vitamin when it comes to healthy teeth which should come as no surprise since your teeth are bones. It helps harden enamel and strengthen your jawbone. You can find calcium in milk, cheese, yogurt, broccoli, and salmon.
