Baby Shower and Interviews with the Cast of Baby Daddy

Baby Daddy has been airing for five season and this year they are celebrating Season 6 which is something that doesn’t happen often in the television show industry. The entire time I was watching the season 6 premier I kept thinking, this is the “Friends” of this generation. We even had the chance to spend time with three of the characters including Chelsea Kane (“Riley Perrin”), Derek Theler (“Danny Wheeler”) and Tahj Mowry (“Tucker Dobbs”). They were all very friendly as well as hilarious on so many levels. I do have to admit that going in to the interviews I thought I would have a favorite, however, that wasn’t the case at all.
What to expect in Season 6?
Season 6 is a huge milestone and this is a big season because the cast and crew will celebrate 100 episodes, a pregnancy and lots of story lines from pilot wrapping up in a beautiful way. But that isn’t all we will also get to dive a little deeper into each character. Especially Tucker because he is in a different space mentally than he usually is and isn’t quite as upbeat as previous seasons. Danny is trying to handle his pregnant girlfriend which is a challenge especially for Danny, Ben is searching for his love that he happened to find last season Melissa is trying to (touching on a hot button issue of being pregnant and not looking like a big maternity case.
Tahj jokingly said, “that he keeps coming back to twins.” but they all agreed that having the same set of twins for the last three years has been amazing. The twins have a mind of their own and have figured out that using the potty is code for not having to do their scene. But the little girls are now talking, acting and are a very important role in the film and because they just tuned 4 on March 5th and they can’t wait to watch them grow into young adults.
Lines between our characters and ourselves have definitely been blurred at this point. But they still have pretty much the same writers as they did for the last 5 seasons. On Monday they joke and talk about their weekends and “catch” up with their friends, but have realized that lots of that material often ends up in the show. Then you have relive the moment on camera which is always fun, Melissa Peterman is the “Queen of Improve” and on Friday night’s after the third take is when she gets to cut loose and have all of the fun. But I think these three enjoy it just as much as Melissa does.
Giving birth and meeting the new baby who is really 13 days old when it was filmed. Riley had real tears that day because it was so emotional. Tucker might find a true love or girlfriend that the fans might love, but they don’t see it coming. Danny would hopefully tie the knot, but they didn’t say for sure. Bonnie and Riley have a breakthrough because it has been in the works since Season 1 and it’s all because Bonnie loves Riley. Tahj says, “it is the most grounded, heartfelt and funniest season they have ever done.” It’s story, is full of character and a full season of crying as well as the comedy we have come to expect.
The Baby Shower
While I don’t want to spoil all of the season for you I definitely recommend tuning in. I fell in love with the cast in our short time together and am looking forward to watching the season unfold on Monday nights. After our interview we were served lunch and had the honor of having lunch with these three wonderful individuals. At our table we had Derek Theler who kept us entertained and told us a hilarious story about being “Captain America” to a fan. I don’t think I have ever laughed harder, well until the game of charades that is.
