Bacon Wrapped Brussel Sprouts
In the summertime we BBQ and smoke a lot of food, and by we I really mean Brady. But the last time we had ribs smoked on the the smoker I asked him if we could try some Bacon Wrapped Brussel Sprouts. He of course obliged and we got busy making these yummy treats. We did learn a couple things though but the finished side was delicious. Now if we can get him in the kitchen more often I will be winning!!
We used raw fresh brussel sprouts and I could see where frozen would definitely be better especially when it comes to cooking time. But I love the “clean eating” aspect of using the fresh sprouts and I got them at a great price so I couldn’t complain to much.
Season them with lots of salt and pepper or they will be a little bland. I always go an extra shake on the salt and a couple extra on the pepper just for good measure. We decided after they were cooked to sprinkle them with a little bit of the barbecue seasoning we used on the ribs and it made them even better.
Wash your sprouts then wrap a half of a slice of bacon around each sprout. Then, secure with a toothpick. Place on a sheet pan and place in the oven at 375ºs for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
If you are putting them into the smoker, cook them for two hours at 275ºs. Otherwise they will be a little crunchy which makes them a little tougher to enjoy. Put onto a plate and serve along with your other dishes for a perfect meal. But I told Brady that the next time I would definitely be happy with just Bacon Wrapped Brussel Sprouts and a fresh slice of tomato to make a perfect meal.
What would the rest of the meal look like at your house?

My mother and I enjoy Brussel sprouts baked in the oven but we haven’t tried them with the bacon. They may not be as healthy with the bacon but I know they have to be good with the bacon because doesn’t bacon make everything better!!
