Birthday Weekend Fun
Turning 39 wasn’t something that I necessarily wanted to do, but I knew it was inevitable. I don’t really have a reason why I felt like that, but I dreaded it. Then, March 6th came and I woke up and I was 39, and didn’t love it or hate it. It was just another birthday or so I thought, but by the end of the day weekend I learned a lot about myself as well as my family and friends.
It started out as a normal day for me, Happy Birthday’s from both Liz and Brady as well as phone calls, texts and Facebook messages wishing me the same thing. I had lots of fun chatting with family and friends during the day, but made an executive decision early in the day. I was taking the day off from the website, housework, and was going to do things I enjoyed doing.
So I spent the day getting caught up on episodes from Grey’s Anatomy and fell in love with the characters all over again. The watched a few episodes of Once Upon a time starring the one and only Ginnifer Goodwin. Which then lead me to reflect a little about how the last four years have really changed my life. I’m not perfect, I’m me and that is ok! God lead me down this path when one door closed, another one opened and it started out as something to do when I was unemployed, but has lead me to a full time career. I get to do things I would have never dreamed possible, work from home and be available for the many trials and tribulations life throws at us. But the best part is I get to be present for everyday life!
Fast forward to that evening and we had made plans to eat out my favorite restaurant Country Cupboard in Jamesport, Missouri. We waited on Liz’s boyfriend to get here and then we were off. But when we got there they were super busy, and I couldn’t for the life of me understand why it was that full. We walked in and the front of the restaurant was full, so we went to the back room. Opened the door and inside the door was LOTS of family and friends there to surprise me for my birthday! I was beyond speechless and thankful that no one had a camera out to capture my priceless face!!
I am beyond thankful for my girls Amanda and Glenda who have always been there for me through the years. And of course their families who put up with our crazy! My parents have always been there for me, and of course my sister Holly and part of her family. But most importantly Brady and Liz who are always there to keep me on my toes. Without all of them I wouldn’t be who I am today!! But I honestly was so surprised that they had a surprise party for me that I was utterly speechless!! After a delicious meal the kids all went to Amanda’s house and the adults went out to the local tavern for a night out on the town!
But the birthday fun turned into weekend fun as we spent time with family and friends I realized just how lucky I really am. If 39 is this great all of the year, I’m a pretty lucky girl! So remember to be present in your life, enjoy your friends and family and take time to enjoy life. That is really what it is all about!
