Christmas in July with Strawberry Shortcake
We all have that one special hero from our childhood and I would say that mine would be a tie between Strawberry Shortcake and Mickey Mouse. But I fondly remember the old tin Strawberry Shortcake Lunch box that I finally had saved up enough money for like it was yesterday. Growing up we were poor, like poverty poor. I didn’t really realize it at the time, I just knew that my parents could never afford “lavish” name brands even if they were affordable for the most part. I knew that if I wanted something I had to work for it, and save for it which meant 9 times out of 10 I went without. While that isn’t something I write much about I wanted to give you a little backstory as to why Strawberry Shortcake was such an important part of my childhood.
After I bought the coveted metal lunchbox, my next savings went to a Strawberry Shortcake Doll and she went everywhere with me. school, Church, the grocery store you name it she went and her smell stayed the same for a really long time. While most kids would have outgrown carrying a doll around, I carried her a long time and even after she was “retired” I still proudly displayed her on a shelf in my bedroom. While that original doll is no longer I’ve been blessed to be a Strawberry Shortcake Ambassador and my love for Strawberry Shortcake is now even stronger than it was before.
