Coco Cay Bahamas
The second day of the cruise I woke up bright and early because my body was still on Missouri time. Because I was awake and ready to conquer the world I made it out to deck 7 which is also the exercise deck. While I was there I watched the ocean float by, as well as watched us pull up and drop anchor all while enjoying a beautiful sunrise. There is something almost magical about a sunrise no matter where I’m at, but I love them even more on the water!
There were people walking, others doing more vigorous activities to get their exercise in, or there were people like me that just stood there taking in all of the beauty of Coco Cay. The water was an amazing royal blue color when it was deep, but no matter where you looked there was something new to see! It was absolutely breathtaking when I saw Coco Cay from the ship but seeing it up closer was gorgeous. Check out this video that has lots of sunrise pictures to share because it was a perfect way to get my day off to a great start!
After watching the sunrise for a couple of hours I made my way back down to the cabin and got ready to spend the day relaxing on Coco Cay! But first we had to eat breakfast to get our day going. We found our way to the buffet and enjoyed all of the yumminess that it had to offer including bagels, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, danish, and so much more! After getting our fill, we filled our water bottles up and headed down to the lower deck to get our beach towel. After checking out a beach towel we made our way to the tender boat line and waited our turn to load the tender boat so we could be whisked away to what I figured was paradise!
How in the world could you not love that gorgeous water?? I of course took LOTS of pictures and videos to try to preserve the beauty for all to enjoy. We found a shot spot to call our own, and walked down into the ocean. It was peaceful and relaxing and I enjoyed the day watching birds, walking in the ocean and then of course kayaking!
After enjoying a lazy morning, we quickly realized it was almost 10:30 and it was time for our kayak excursion. We went to what we thought was the kayak excursion meeting place but it wasn’t the right location. So we had to quickly walk down the beach to our group kayaking location, but we made it just in time. When we first got there we filled out our waiver form, showed them the tickets, and rented a locker. It was $10 for the day but of course you put it on your ship card. We safely stowed our money, cameras and bags into the locker collected our paddle and life jackets. Then we started our loading of the kayaks, the staff was very helpful, explained what we were going to do. So we loaded up and took off like herd of turtles it was breathtaking!
But don’t let it fool you it’s hard work because by then end of the 2 miles your arms are on fire. We saw sharks and sting rays on our cruise on the ocean. We ended up kayaking over 2 miles in just over an hour and it was not only a workout but an amazing experience! In one word it was GORGEOUS!
Half way through the excursion they stop along the way for a break and I for one was glad to have the resting time for my arms. At long last we made it back to the start of the kayaking excursion and it was time for lunch! I was more than thankful for the unlimited water because my water bottle had ran out along time ago. And as long as you drink alcoholic beverages there were lots to choose from, but not if you wanted to be frugal.
There was a burger grill set up along with a fruit bar and all kinds of food for the perfect picnic lunch. It was more than welcoming because I didn’t realize just how hungry I was until I started eating! But it was all fresh, tasted great and the water as well as lemonade were being passed out freely. It was a great way to recharge for the rest of the afternoon on a private island.
After exploring all that Coco Cay had to offer we made our way back to the Majesty of Seas. I was sad to see such a relaxing day come to an end, but it was definitely one of my favorite locations while being on the cruise! Minus the pine trees, because those needles hurt when you step on them!
Check out all of these pictures from CocoCay!
After a day filled with fun in the sun we hopped aboard the tender boat and made our way back to the Majesty of the Seas. But the day was still young because we still had lots to do aboard the ship. After we went back to the ship we explored the ship and found a yummy restaurant for mid afternoon snack! We ate some desserts, sandwiches and drank lots of water while we rested from being out in the hot sun all day. Then, we went exploring and went up the top of the ship to watch the ocean pass by and of course the boatloads of people making their way back to the ship.
Then we decided it was time to head back to our stateroom to take a shower and get dressed up for formal night. After we were ready, we continued to explore the ship, enjoyed watching people in the casino. Then came the time for the 80’s trivia game that was held in the Schooner Bar which was actually a lot more fun than I had anticipated. We missed the Bingo game and several other activities that we had planned on doing, but it was a great time!
After the trivia game we literally walked around this ship enjoying the shopping, being out on the open decks and just seeing what we could see. But we were glad that it was dinner time when it rolled around! The second night’s dinner was much better than the first!
After a wonderful dinner we ventured outside to watch the sunset! It was just as gorgeous as the sunrise but the sunrise was my favorite!
Then we went and watched the Comedy/Magic show to round out our fun filled first full day on the cruise! It was a great show that adults young and old could enjoy! At long last we retired to our stateroom just in time for a few hours sleep before we visited Nassau the following day.
