Crossing the natural “bridge” between Italy and France

Travel

Starting from the south-east part of France, right next to the Mediterranean Sea and the country’s boarder, and expanding till the mid of Austria and the northern part of Slovenia, traversing 5 more countries, expands the popular Alpine mountain range.

Alps, are one of Europe’s most significant natural landmarks, a unique destination with countless slopes to conquer and cosy resorts to indulge in. No wonder that it attracts thousands of visitors, either locals who are seeking for frequent escapes, or foreigners desiring to admire the breathtaking scenery. With numerous options available for practising winter sports, on piste runs of all difficulty levels and off-pistes too, as well as renown competitions taking place, professional athletes share also a special interest for the Alps.

Sometimes, it’s possible for a run to extend in different countries, even if the main resort belongs to a specific one. This means that by obtaining the relative ski-pass, you could “travel” just using your skis.

This fact gave us the idea to design a travel-route. The “Plagne du Soleil” resort is in the middle of a triangle created by Turin, Geneva, and Lyon. All three cities are worthy of visiting, and there are 6 different alternatives combining 2 of them, and a middle stop in the mountain. Today we will talk about moving from Turin to Lyon, while taking a snowy break at Plagne Village.

  1. Day 1 – Turin

Start your adventure from the Italian land, early in the morning, in order to have plenty of hours for exploration, without needing to spend the night.  With Turin being the first official capital of Italy in the mid-19th century, it surely has great historical significance. A stroll through Piazza Castello will allow admiring three buildings of impressive architecture ( Royal Palace of Turin, Palazzo Madama, and the Royal Library ) as well as the square itself. Another architectural Marvel is Mole Antonelliana, the tallest museum of the world, which also offers great panoramic view. If you’re a museum enthusiast you can visit the National Cinema Museum. During the rest of the day, plan also a visit to Turin Cathedral and walk by Via Po and the Po River.
Don’t forget to cherish yourself with a typical Italian aperitivo experience.

At last, enjoy your transfer to the Plagne du Soleil, with ease and comfort, by requesting ski transport by Erna Low.

  1. Days 2&3 – Plagne du Soleil and Plagne Village

Being the main activity of this trip, and in addition to the snowy picturesque scenery and all its benefits, an extended staying is recommended. For the next 48 hours, deactivate your mobile phone, or at least all unnecessary notifications, and get carried away by the serenity and calmness snow adds to the environments, as well as from the adrenaline of the slopes. What a contradiction of feelings!

It meets the needs of any level skier, without the youngsters of a family being excluded.

This supplementary advantage, is a sufficient reason to adjust our suggested travel route, to the Christmas holidays, and seize the opportunity to create life-lasting memories.

  1. Day 4 – Lyon

After 2 totally refreshing days, it’s time to return to urban civilization and wrap this adventure. Lyon is France’s third-largest city and a very remarkable landscape. During your day there, walking will be the main activity. Roman Theaters and Odeon of Lyon are interesting archaeological sites to visit, along with the whole Old Lyon (Vieux Lyon), which Renaissance district is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy some more peaceful moments in Presqu’île District and Place Bellecour. A traditional Lyonesse meal should not be left out of your to-do list.
