Daniel’s Winter Wonderland
I received Daniel’s Winter Wonderland in exchange for this post, however all opinions are 100% my own.
Fall weather has hit us hard these last few days. With the weather turning colder requiring us to break out our jackets, the first thing my son asks is when it’s going to snow. He was so disappointed when I told him that we have probably 2-3 more months before we get snow. Thankfully, I have just the thing to cheer him up!
We received Daniel’s Winter Wonderland just in time for chilly weather. Once my son saw me hold up the movie, he couldn’t wait to put it on the TV. We started with the first episode and were immediately transported into a winter wonderland. I loved it because in the midst of getting my son excited for snowy weather, it also teaches him an important lesson.
The forecast looks like this cold snap will give way to warmer weather soon… Despite warmer weather around the corner, I already know that my son will be looking forward to snowy weather with more episodes of Daniel’s Winter Wonderland.
Here’s more about Daniel’s Winter Wonderland.
This DVD features four stories from the popular PBS KIDS series DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD from The Fred Rogers Company. Young viewers can join Daniel Tiger and his friends and family as they have “grr-ific” winter adventures and learn valuable lessons along the way.
Daniel can’t wait to play in the snow, but before he and Miss Elaina can go outside, Daniel learns that he needs to, “think about what you’re going to do, and pick the clothes that are right for you.” Hats and mittens might spoil certain games, but being too cold to play is no fun for anyone! Daniel also discovers that when an activity – such as sledding, ice skating, or dancing in “The Nutcracker” ballet – seems scary or hard to do, trying a little bit at a time can make it easier.
“DANIEL’S WINTER WONDERLAND” will be available on DVD October 11, 2016. The DVD has a run time of approximately 60 minutes and an SRP of $6.99. The stories included on this DVD are below. Episodes of DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD are also available for digital download.
“A Snowy Day”
It’s snowing in the Neighborhood! Miss Elaina is coming over to Daniel’s house to play in the snow. When it’s time to go outside, Mom Tiger helps Daniel change out of his pajamas into clothes that will keep him warm, and Daniel learns how important it is to choose the proper clothes.
“Daniel’s Winter Adventure”
Daniel, Dad, and Prince Wednesday are all going sledding! But once they get to the hill and see how tall it is, Daniel and Prince Wednesday get scared. Dad assures them that if they try it a little bit at a time, they might surprise themselves and have fun. Later, Daniel goes ice skating for the first time. When he tries it a little bit at a time, he realizes it is not so hard.
“Neighborhood Nutcracker”
Daniel is going to see a show called “The Nutcracker” ballet! Once he arrives at the performance, he finds out that Prince Wednesday is sick and needs Daniel to fill in for his part of the ballet. Daniel is reluctant at first but realizes that if he learns the steps a little bit at a time, he can dance “The Nutcracker” and the show will go on!
“Baking Mistakes”
Daniel and Prince Wednesday are at the bakery helping Baker Aker make cookies for the Neighborhood. But Prince Wednesday accidentally spills the milk! No crying though because mistakes can happen. Soon the boys learn that they can try to fix their mistakes and learn from them, too. Trolley cookies for everyone!
The first TV series inspired by the iconic, award-winning MISTER ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD, DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD from The Fred Rogers Company stars 4-year-old Daniel Tiger, son of the original program’s Daniel Striped Tiger, who invites young viewers into his world, giving them a kid’s-eye view of his life. One of the key ingredients that makes the series a standout is its groundbreaking use of catchy musical strategies, grounded in Fred Rogers’ landmark social-emotional curriculum, that reinforce each theme and that preschoolers and parents both sing – and use – together in their daily lives. DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD, which debuted in September 2012, airs daily on PBS KIDS (check local listings).
