DIY Chalk Paint Votive Holders

DIY Chalk Paint Votive Holders

DIY Chalk Paint Votive Holders are one of the easiest crafts I’ve ever done and when it’s time for a new season I have to update things in my home. So this year instead of buying things already made we are spending a little more time doing DIY projects like this one. This one is perfect for Fall and can stay out until Thanksgiving so it is the perfect project. But we had so much fun doing it we decided that blue would be perfect for winter so we made that one too!

Supplies needed:
Craft paint in Chalk Paint Finish (Michael’s Craft Store)
Sponge brush
Clear votive holder (Dollar Tree)
Yarn in choice of color
Scissors
Battery operated votive

Directions:
1. Chalk paint has a rustic finish that doesn’t offer as much coverage as regular craft paint. That is why it is perfect for this project as it will allow the light from your votive to shine through! Apply two coats of the chalk paint to the INSIDE of the votive. Allow to dry well in between coats and once the final coat has been applied.
2. Cut a length of yarn to fit around the top of the glass. Tie into a bow or knot and trim off any extra. If you are concerned about it staying in place, you can add a dab of glue underneath to hold it.
3. Add your battery operated votive. Simply turn it on and place it inside.

We were so in love with how it looked we made a blue one that would be perfect for winter!!

You will notice how nicely the light shines through the chalk paint giving it a soft glow. This craft is perfect for coordinating in holiday colors or just in your everyday color scheme. Give it a try and see how easy it can be to make your own.
