Find the right RV site
One of the most important aspects of a successful RV trip is choosing the right places to stop for a while. Indeed, a good RV Park can make all the difference to your trip. Especially if they offer extensive facilities, including full hookups, and a pleasant rural setting.
It’s also important that you find an RV park that accepts pets, if you plan on travelling with yours. After all, they will need some time outside of the van to stretch their legs just as much as you will.
Make sure you have the right support
Support when you are on the road with your RV can take a few different forms. The first is roadside assistance, which is crucial if you want peace of mind in case of breakdowns or accidents. Indeed, having a service that will come to you no matter your location, as either fix your van there or tow you to a mechanic, is priceless!
Other types of support that you will need include RV insurance, which should cover things like fire damage, storm damage, accident and theft. It can also be a smart move to choose travel insurance when you are vacationing in your RV. Then, as long as you are 100 miles or more from your home (depending on your policy), you will be able to claim for things such as delays, cancelled reservations, and even health emergencies while you are on the road.
Plan your route
Part of enjoying RVing is making the most of the travelling part of your break. The good news is that the US is perfectly set up for this, with many weird and wonderful roadside attractions along the most popular of routes. In fact, depending on where you plan to visit, you may wish to add iconic sites such as Carhenge in Nebraska, Cadillac Ranch in Texas, and or even the Cabazon Dinosaurs in California to your route.
Make sure you stay charged up
When it comes to RVing, making sure you have enough power to keep the lights on, ensure running water and charge your devices is crucial. Of course, one of the best ways of doing this is to secure a hookup at your campground, as this will help to charge your van’s battery.
However, there are some other options to consider as well, such as installing solar panels, then whether you are static or on the move, you will be able to keep your van battery fully charged, and at a very low cost as well. The last option is to invest in a generator and take this on board your RV with you. This can help ensure you never run out of power, but they can be quite large, so you will have to decide whether it’s worth the space you will use or not.
