Eating Healthier Even On The Go
We have been working on eating healthier for almost a year now and while we are still working on it, when we travel we are a little more lax. However, with the help from my friends at HowUDish we are eating healthier on the go as well at home. While we still have some cheat days, we have learned a few things on our healthier eating journey. So, today we are going to talk about a few ways we are staying on track and about HowUDish is helping us.
Drink Enough Water
First and foremost we drink enough water. Our bodies are 60% water and with the tasty options out there, we used to drink lots of other drinks instead of our water. Now, we drink a glass of water in the morning before our coffee, water all morning long, water at lunch, and throughout the early afternoon. We are drinking about 60 ounces a day, then after we have made that quota, we can have tea, juice or other beverages.
Drink first, snack second
I know, I know you have heard this one before and while you know it, you don’t always stick to it. (I’m guilty too!) but a lot of times our bodies are just craving more water and with a glass or bottle of water on our stomach, the urge to snack often times passes. But if it doesn’t reach for something high in protein or a piece of fruit. We have been increasing our proteins and have had great results.
Plan your menus including breakfast, lunch, dinner (supper) and snacks. It doesn’t take long to get into the habit of menu planning and you waste less food too. Then, you can allocate your calories accordingly and if you have extra at the end of the day you can splurge on a snack. It works great for us and has saved us money too. But when we are traveling things get a little trickier. But my friends at HowUDish have us covered.
