Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral is a must see attraction while on the Space Coast of Florida. Port Canaveral is the second busiest port in the world and they are growing to help make it more of a tourist attraction which is nice. The Exploration Tower was officially opened on November 4, 2013 as part of the Canaveral Port Authority’s celebration of the 60th Anniversary. We had a tour guide that filled us in on Port Canaveral, Exploration Tower and of course showed us an unadvertised hidden gem which was the Canaveral Locks.

Exploration Tower

Exploration Tower is 7 stories of fun with each floor revealing something new for guests to see and do. The $23 Million dollar building hosts an observation deck, interactive displays, art work, hands on learning, and much much more. But when you walk in the front door the first thing I noticed was the amazing art work that hangs down from the ceiling. The entire collection is made from trash that is collected from the ocean. Sayaka Ganz  is the artist behind this amazing sculpture collection and it is a must see collection.

The Exploration Tower was built to give cruise ship passengers a place to go to learn more about the area they are visiting. I loved that admission to The Exploration Tower is only $6.50 for adults and children for $2.50. They also offer discounts to military, Brevard County residents and Seniors.

Kids and adults alike can navigate a boat using a simulator through Canaveral Harborto greet cruise ships. Here is Jason from Orlando Fun and Food navigating the channel while our guide narrated the experience for us.

Port Canaveral Locks

Manatee Canaveral Locks

After exploring all 7 floors of the Exploration Tour our guide took us on a short drive to visit the Port Canaveral Locks. One thing we had noticed while traveling is the amount of wildlife we saw along the highways were impressive. We saw birds, alligators, and more while we were visiting, but my favorite animal was the manatee we saw while at the Locks. I would have loved to have the time to take in a Dolphin and Manatee tour while there, but it is on my must do list when we go back to visit as a family.

Both of these stops are a must see when traveling the Space Coast of Florida. I will admit that seeing the Manatee was amazing, but the Exploration Tower observation deck is also just as amazing. I definitely recommend a stop at both of these locations in Port Canaveral.*I received complimentary admission in exchange for this review. But all opinions are 100% my own.
