Exploring Dreamworks and Voltron
Voltron Legendary Defender
Last month I got invited to a Press Day with Dreamworks Animation and was able to get a behind the scenes glimpse into the Animation world. The trip itself was absolutely amazing, but getting a sneak peak into new shows has to be one of my all time favorite things to do ever. Now, before heading to LA I had heard about Voltron, but never watched the anime version growing up. I’m not real sure what rock I hid under, but after watching just an hour I will have to admit I’m hooked and am waiting impatiently for the series to arrive on June 10th.
When we arrived at Dreamworks we were greeted with breakfast before our day began. Which is always nice, but they pulled out all of the stops when we got to see Toothless, as well as Oh from Home: Adventures of Tip and Oh. After breakfast we quickly headed into the theater where we got to see three episode of Voltron and chat with Kelly Kulchak who is the head of current programming.
After the screening we had a short chat with the Executive Producer Joaquim Dos Santos and Co-Executive Producer Lauren Montgomery and found out just how strong their love of Voltron really is. But I can’t give you all of the details just yet, but I promise they are worth coming back for. By the time that was over, it was on to lunch. Holy Cow! That was quick!
Lunch was amazing as always and the view was breathtaking, but the cupcake and candy bar took the show. We even had the chance to color, eat, visit with Dreamworks staff and of course take pictures with Voltron. And who could resist doing that?
It’s safe to say that Voltron would win if it were a real fight, but it was fun to pretend for a few minutes. But we were quickly ushered to a busy afternoon of more behind the scenes fun. We had the chance to interview some amazing talent, do a voice over session, had an art lesson and so much more. But I will tell you more about that soon!!
