Find Love for Jet-setters: What You Can Do

Lifestyle

Numbers never lie. Mathematicians say that anyone has a 1 in 562 chance to find love on any given day. But these odds probably worsen if we’re constantly being uprooted and live a lifestyle that causes us to regularly move from one place to another.

If your job requires you to fly all over the world, or if your life is constantly being uprooted due to several factors, you’re not disqualified from finding love. Here are some tips for you to find love even when you’re a jet-setter.

Have a long-term plan for your life

If you truly want to be in a committed long-term relationship, you have to decide how you want to settle down in the future. You can theoretically find someonewilling and able to go with you on your global adventures, but you can’texpectit from your future partner. You have to be ready to compromise when you meet the one person you see yourself spending the rest of your life with.

Until when are you planning to fly around the world? Can you take your job anywhere, meaning can you settle down with your future partner in just one place? It’s important to resolve these questions before you try to look for someone to be in a committed long-term relationship with.

Enlist the help of professionals

While you can undoubtedly try online dating, nothing increases your chances of finding the right person more than investing in the process. Consider seeking the help of dating or matchmaking experts to help you find the right one for you.

These professionals will help you understand the nature of your lifestyle. They can help connect you with people who have similar aspirations and lived experiences as you. You might not be able to find someone who won’t mind your jet-setting lifestyle right off the bat, but professionals matchmakers might have the resources to find that one person for you.

Go on singles-only trips or cruises

With many countries all over the world opening up their tourism industry again, you might find more luck in joining singles-only cruises, parties, trips, or events.

There are plenty of travel companies that host these types of vacations, they happen anywhere in the globe, and there are options for various kinds of budgets. You don’t have to worry about breaking the bank. If you’re worried about going on one of these trips or cruises, and if you’re concerned about your safety, invite a single friend to go with you so you can both find love.

Don’t hesitate to talk to strangers

Don’t underestimate the power of making small talk or asking for directions from a stranger you find attractive. Don’t hesitate to extend the conversation a little longer, but don’t be creepy about it. Be casual, friendly, and sensitive if the person looks uncomfortable. The opposite is true; if you find yourself uncomfortable or unsafe, don’t hesitate to end the conversation.

Put a deadline on the long-distance status

Once you find a person you think is worth committing to, it’s time to place a pin on how long you’re going to travel. Couples therapists suggest that for long-distance couples to work out, they need to do the following:

  • Maximize technology to stay connected
  • Remain committed to the relationship no matter what obstacles they may face
  • Find ways to do stuff together, have fun, and go on dates even when they’re apart
  • Be confident and secure in the relationship even if they’re not together
  • Establish clear and healthy boundaries, and
  • Set end an end date to the physical separation.

When coupleshave aclear goal that both parties work towards, they set themselves up for success. This is why we circle back to the first tip: You need to know how long you plan to travel. Speak with your boss about your future, or if you’re a nomad by choice, decide in your heart to finally settle in one place with your partner. Set a target date for when you want to be together for good. It’s the only way to stay with the person you love.

It’s true that our relationship status doesn’t define us as people. However, we cannot deny that being with somebody who makes us feel loved and happy can add so much joy and meaning to our lives. They can make a difference in your everyday happenings. If you travel a lot, don’t think you’re disqualified from finding the love of your life. Fight for it, take risks, and allow yourself the opportunity to love and be loved.
