Four Reasons Why You Should Consider A Trip To The Lake District

Travel

Whether you are travelling with your family or going solo, planning the perfect vacation can be a difficult task. After all, there are many different factors to consider, from budgets to accommodation and location. From that list, location is probably the most critical factor, as it dictates how you will spend your time and what activities and amenities are available to you.

As a result, the first step in your vacation planning should be choosing the perfect location based on what you’re looking for. For example, this could include:

  • A city break.
  • A beach vacation.
  • A countryside escape.

If you’re leaning towards the latter, you can’t go wrong with booking a getaway to the Lake District.

Located in the north-west of England, The Lake District is a region known for its national parks, historic heritage and of course, its lakes. As a result, it is considered one of the ‘gems’ of the UK – making it the perfect destination for a getaway.

With that in mind, here are four why you should consider booking a trip to the lake district.

1. For the adventure.

One of the major draws of visiting the Lake District is due to the sense of adventure associated with this kind of escape. Whether you are planning on taking your kids hiking, hiring a boat to explore the Lakes, or even trying out some more adventurous sporting activities – adventure lies around every corner. This means that the lakes are a truly fulfilling travel adventure that the whole family can enjoy.

2. For the views.

The Lake District is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful locations in the UK – home to sprawling mountains and idyllic villages. The views alone – from both your accommodation and your daily adventure spots, mean that the Lake District would earn a spot on your travel bucket list. For example, staycation properties in the Lake District offer the serene views and calm surroundings you’re craving, making it a particularly welcome escape for those looking to leave behind city life. Make sure you bring a camera along to capture as many pictures as possible.

3. The Culture.

The Lake District is also renowned for its contribution to culture, especially the written world. In fact, the Lake District was home to famous writers and poets such as William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin. This means that the peaceful setting could be the perfect place to get your creative juices flowing. Whatsmore, film buffs will also be pleased to hear that there are plenty of filming locations in the Lake District that you can explore. For example, in Star Wars VIII: The Force Awakens, the lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenwaithe are used to portray the planet of Takodana.

4. The History.

There are also plenty of historical landmarks to visit around the Lake District, including plenty of castles, Abbeys and Churches. As a result, this makes it the perfect destination for those who like to learn more about the world around them when travelling. It’s also a great way to make a family vacation more educational, so that your kids are learning and having fun at the same time.
