5 Fun Crafts For You And Your Kids
Getting crafty is a great way to keep everybody in your household occupied for a while. It’s a much better way to go about it than plonking the kids in front of the TV. By making sure your family loves different crafts, your kids should grow up to have a number of exciting hobbies. They’ll find it easier to express themselves creatively too! If you’re just getting into crafts, here are 5 fun crafts that you and your kids can both enjoy:
Decoupage
Decoupage can help you to turn regular, boring things into super fun things! It’s the art of using patterned paper on items to bring them to life. There are so many ways you can do this. If you have a boring cabinet, you can find some awesome paper and funk it up. How about turning it into a superhero cabinet using comic book papers? You can use any paper, whether it’s a piece of old wallpaper or a piece out of a magazine. You can even buy special paper to do it. You usually use thinned out PVC glue to stick it down and go over it, so it hardens and actually looks like it’s a part of the design. You can create some incredibly unique things this way. Try it on old jewelry boxes, coffee tables, and even paper mache things.
Card Making
Card making is lots of fun, plus you get to create something personalized for a special occasion. You can use different types of cards, stamps, and embellishments to make a card that you really love. Family members will always cherish cards especially made by your kids too! You could also potentially use a free card maker if you don’t have the pieces in to make them by hand.
Jewelry Making
Jewelry making is a hobby that your kids could very well grow up to love and stick with forever. You can make jewelry out of wire, stones, clay, thread, and just about anything else you can think of. There’s no end to the techniques out there that you can use. It might be best to start kids off with some thread and beads!
Clay Sculpting
Clay sculpting is so much fun, and you can make anything, from vases to cute little animal charms. It can take a little practice, but there are so many interesting techniques you can use with clay too. You can mix colors to create amazing effects and brand new colors. You can even use acrylic paints to make your creations even more amazing. All you need is some polymer clay, a little oven, a thermometer, some glaze, and some sculpting tools to make something you can keep forever!
Painting
Painting is really simple, and can help you and your kids to express yourselves creatively. Make sure that you don’t hover when your kids are painting. If they paint the sky orange, then let them! This is about giving them the confidence to do things how they like them, not how they ‘should’ be.
There are so many other amazing crafts you can try too. Have fun trying new things with your kids!
