Interviewing Mr. and Mrs. Incredible AKA Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson
First off I want to tell you, that Incredibles 2 was worth the wait, but more importantly it starts immediately after the first one did, so Holly and Craig were excited that they didn’t have to age. (Do you think I could get some of that Disney magic?) Both Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson were onboard right away for the sequel because it was a huge success. But because they usually do television and movies, they loved that it started literally 15 seconds after the first Incredibles ended.
Brad Bird is a very talented individual and he brought modern day environments to the movie screen but not necessarily on purpose. The Incredibles 2 is a movie that is a great thing for all to see but it is a gentle reminder that men are capable of being fantastic, nurturing parents. And Moms can live up to the gifts we have without apology just like Elastigirl. Every mom needs to be able to be fully engaged in something that has nothing to do with parenting, and I think that that’s difficult for all of us to actually give ourselves license to just go that, that deeply.
Craig T. Nelson is fondly remember as the “Coach” for many of us watched him play this iconic role from 1989-1997. But now he is probably equally as famous for his role of Mr. Incredible. While Holly is most remembered for Saving Grace and Roe Vs. Wade and of course Elastigirl. They each said that if they don’t want to be recognized they don’t talk and are often times recognized when they speak as little as one syllable. Craig said that the great part about being the character in the film was that it gave him the opportunity to get to know his kids. (How cool is that??)
Mr. and Mrs. Incredible are a great example of parenting
Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible are very competitive and encourage each other to go ahead and do it, but when you fail, you know I will be there. Which is the perfect message for our kids because no matter what they do we as parents will be there for them. It also teaches kids that we also have give them their freedom to explore their potential. Which coincidently is something that we also need to look for in a spouse or significant other.
As parents most of us haven’t been in a classroom for 20ish years and we know the struggle of the ever changing math. While Math is Math, it is unbeliveable and we all get frustrated. We as parents or even grandparents don’t get why they can’t do it our way, but in the end 2 plus two is always going to be four. But it is the world in which we live in and we have to remember to be engaged and The Incredibles are engaged throughout the entire movie. Gone are the screens and they are able to engage, communicate and rely on each other which is what every family should strive to be.
Holly and Craig didn’t meet each other until about nine months ago. When voicing their characters they were with Brad Bird and being the artist Brad is, he picked the perfect voices for Mr. and Mrs. Incredible! But it was Brad’s imagination and chemistry together to pull together a great cast including Sarah Vowell who plays Violet, Sam Jackson who’s Frozone, and so many more great characters and voices. About Incredibles 2
In INCREDIBLES 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.
Directed by Brad Bird (“Iron Giant,” “The Incredibles”) and produced by John Walker (“The Incredibles”) and Nicole Grindle (“Sanjay’s Super Team” short, “Toy Story 3” associate producer).
“Incredibles 2” busts into theaters on June 15, 2018.
