Homemade Meatball Recipe

Meatball-Recipe

Meatballs are a staple for several of our family recipes as well as menu ideas. So therefore I make them up in bigger batches and toss them into the freezer. Then when the menu item calls for meatballs I am able to pull them out of the freezer and have a fresh made meal usually in under 30 minutes.

Meatballs are easy to make, affordable and very versatile which is why I love them. Whipping them up from start to finish might take 15 minutes but I’ve never really timed the process. Some of the recipes that we use the frozen meatballs for includes the following:

Meatball Subs

Sweet N Sour Meatballs

Meatball Soup

Spaghetti and Meatballs

So we can make them up at the beginning of the month and have four different meals using the meatballs which is nice. Now, I will tell you that we don’t eat them four times a month all of the time, but they are good enough that we could easily!

As we all know meatballs are something that are versatile as well as unique. Each family has their own way of making this delicious staple but here is how we did ours.

1 pound of fresh beef

1 pound of fresh sausage

1 medium onion chopped

2 cups bread crumbs (seasoned most generally Italian but plain works fine)

3 eggs

Salt, Pepper and garlic to taste

Other seasonings as you would like (Italian, etc.)

If you have followed me for very long you know that I cook a lot by how it looks and this one is no different. Once it is all in the bowl I use my hands to mix it together then make into balls. I try to stay under one inch in size but it doesn’t always happen. You can make them smaller or bigger depending on your preference which is great.

Once they are all lined up on the sheet pan they go into the oven until golden brown. Which is usually under 30 minutes at 350º F then they are set out to cool. After they are cooled I put them into a freezer bag for storage and usually have a meatball meal that night for good measure.
