How To Clean Up Your Rental When Moving Out

Home & Organization

When you’ve been living in your condominium for a while and find it’s time to move out, you likely will have quite a cleaning job ahead of you. After living in a place for years, the dirt and debris can accumulate and cause you a big headache when it comes to getting it ready to move. You’ll want to make sure you do a good job so you don’t end up losing your deposit.

Of course, the best idea is to hire a company like Woodard Cleaning & Restoration that will do everything professionally and quickly. However, you are likely trying to save money and you can actually do it yourself.

In this article, we will go over some of the essentials that you need to do room by room so you can leave the place as it was when you moved in.

Kitchen

This is the room that is likely to need the deepest clean. Between cooking grease and food that gets lost under the stove, there are a lot of places where it can be quite dirty.

Start out by cleaning the fridge by pulling out all of the draws and giving them a scrub down with warm, soapy water. Make sure to leave them outside to dry so they don’t get moldy in the fridge. Then, wipe down the walls inside the fridge with a disinfectant solution.

Next, turn your attention to the oven and stove top. The inside of the stove is going to need some serious products. Try out the self-cleaning option first if it has it. You still might need to use a strong oven cleaner to get everything completely clean and stain-free, however, even if it does have that feature.

The dishwasher is often neglected but needs to have a serious cleaning once a year. Take out all the filters and rinse them. They may even need to be changed depending on the type. Scrub down the walls inside with disinfectant and let it air out. Hire eMaids Cleaning Service of NYC to handle all of your kitchen and home cleaning while you move!

Bathroom

Since this is a very humid room, it can be quite difficult to clean. The caulking around the shower is usually moldy or has lots of mildew. It may make sense to strip it off and redo the whole area since it never gets quite as clean even when using bleach.

Be careful with some harsh cleaners, however, when using them to clean your bidet seat or toilet since the plastic parts can get weak. Your best bet is to just use warm soapy water for many of the things in the bathroom. You should also make sure to take the toilet seat off and clean or replace the hinges since they usually get rusty.

Living room

Carpet stains are difficult to remove so you may want to rent a steam cleaner to do this job. Spot cleaning can work too but it all depends on the stain and the type of rug you have.

The same goes for the upholstery as it can get deep into the couch.
