Perhaps you’ve had your kids at home since the beginning of the pandemic. Or maybe they’ve gone to school, but with the rising cases they’ve moved back to remote learning.
It’s been hard for many people, and you may struggle to stay motivated or do anything during this. You’re not alone. It is hard to keep your mental health in check.
Luckily, we have a few tips to help you keep it together during these troubled times.
Practice Self-Care
When was the last time you were practicing self-care? Chances are that probably went out the window with the pandemic rolling about. But, by practicing self-care, you can be much happier.
Self-care can be anything from taking a nice bath, to even working on a skincare routine to help you feel good.
Even just taking some time to yourself to better yourself is important, since it helps you get your mind off the current situation, and allows you to do something for yourself.
Even just thirty minutes of this a day can help immensely.
Try Planning Ahead
A good way to keep your mental health in check is to plan ahead.
This is especially important if you’re helping your child with schoolwork and there are due dates. You of course can plan ahead the week and other aspects of it, and it can help you stay on top of things.
Planning ahead does reduce stress on all fronts, and your kids will be able to do well in school too.
Try Meditation
Raising children is hard work. Sometimes you need to figure out a way to stay calm and reduce stress.
Meditation, especially guided meditation and breathing meditation is great. This is something you can do on your own after the kids have gone to bed.
You can sit down, and for about 15-30 minutes do some meditation. It’s been found to help with stress, and reduce tension in the body.

Make time to Exercise
This is a great one for improving your mental health. Try to make time to exercise, whether it be bringing the kids to the park with you or doing an exercise at home.
This is a good way to help reduce stress in the body, and to make it easier on you with time. It is a good way to improve yourself in a personal manner, and also is great for your body.
Talk to Your Kids
A big part of your own sanity is understanding what your kids are going through too. If your child is acting up, maybe ask them what’s going on. They may be taking it out on you for a reason.
Sometimes, this improves your mental health since you know what’s going on and can do something about it.
Talking to them and spending time with them is good, and figuring out that balance is important, especially during these times. The pandemic may be affecting them too, and getting them to meet with friends over Skype for example gives them an outlet, and also gives you time to focus on yourself too.
Consider Help
Seeking out help is not a bad thing, and you may need it. If you have a lot going on, there are ways to get the care for your mental health that you deserve.
You can go to Mind Diagnostics to find out more about that, and get some help with these issues. There are counselors and options there, and you can figure out what’s going on mentally.
Your mental health matters, so make sure you take some time and maintain it, even when you have the kids around.
