How to Spring Clean Your Smartphone
*I received the Samsung Galaxy S7 to review in exchange for this post, however as always opinions are 100% my own.
Just like our homes, cars and about everything in between it is time for a quick clean up of your smartphone. Following these simple tips and you can get your mobile life organized and improve the overall function of your phone.
Have a backup: I personally have my phone set to back up once a month, but only because I learned the hard way when I had an old cell phone die, and lost lots of information and of course photos. Using Google Calendar you can create a back-up reminder to help you stay organized. But for the sake of Spring Cleaning our Smartphones the first thing you need to do is back up your phone. Back up contacts, photos, music and apps consider saving that content in the cloud. That way if you lose your smartphone you can retrieve your information in minutes.
Clean up your apps: Apps are something that most of us have several of on our phones, but they do take up space. Take a few minutes to check out the apps you have installed on your phone. The average smartphone user has 25 apps downloaded on their device. Deleting apps can free up space on your phone and keep your device organized. If you accidentally delete one of your favorite apps, don’t worry because you can always download the app again! 🙂 Don’t forget to close out of the apps completely after you use them because they will drain your battery even if they are just running in the background.
Get rid of the clutter: Clutter is old music, old pictures or even contacts that are stored on our phones but we don’t use them. Email them to yourself and delete them on your phone to free up some storage on your smartphone.
Update your device: I also update my device once a month using the same method as listed above in the back up section. But now is a great time to check for any software and app updates, which can help your phone run smoother and more efficiently.
Push back on push notifications: Check all of your settings for location permission and check commonly used locations for pop-ups and disable them. They are a waste of time in most cases and let’s face it, we all need to clean clutter in our lives!
Clear the cache: Your phone has a cache, just like your computer. Getting rid of cached files can help to free up memory. Consider using an app like the App Cache Cleaner on Android devices. For iPhones, go to “Settings” for any browsers you use and hit “clear cache.”
Implement these six tips to help you Spring Clean your Smartphone as well as get more organized, optimize your phone and of course improve your phone and data usage too!
Samsung Galaxy S7
But if you are looking for a new phone I highly suggest the Samsung Galaxy S7! It has crystal clear sound, an amazing battery life, as well as amazing picture quality. However, my favorite feature is that it is waterproof because it will be safe from those accidents that are bound to happen. It’s sleek design makes it easy to carry and use and you can easily add more storage to the phone. What isn’t to love?
