Different kinds of vitamins

There are two main types of vitamins important for people who are trying to lose weight. The first kind is the ordinary, normal vitamins. They are the vitamins that we normally take, made from different companies, and they also come in a variety of forms. For healthy people, they won’t have any side effects, but to people who underwent weight-loss surgery, they can cause some irritations.

There are special kinds of vitamins for post-op patients, and they are called bariatric vitamins. The difference between the two is that bariatric vitamins are easy on the stomach lining, so you won’t experience any pain or discomfort, and they are easily resorbable, so you’ll be getting plenty more of the vitamin.

Benefits of vitamin B12

B12 is a vitamin that our body needs, but cannot produce. It is found in a variety of foods, such as animal livers, clams, sardines, beef, certain types of cereal, tuna, salmon, milk and dairy, and eggs. Deficiency is easy to come if you’re following a certain, strict diet, or you simply have some dietary preferences. B12 has lots of benefits, and we’ll walk you through them.

Prevent anemia

The vitamin is crucial to creating red blood cells in our bodies. They help carry oxygen and nutrients to every cell, and also take away toxic, unnecessary stuff out. Usually, those red blood cells are small and shaped like a disc. If there is anemia present, they will become large and round, and their function will be reduced. The big red blood cells won’t be able to go to the bloodstream, which will lead to megaloblastic anemia.

Anemia is a state that comes with really visible symptoms that can be easily seen. One of them is paleness on the face and body. The second one is fatigue, and also if it’s more serious, you might experience blackouts. This can all be prevented by supplementing with B12.

Support bone health

Our bones can suffer from carrying all that extra weight. The biggest burden is on our joints, specifically our knees and ankles. This can take a toll on them, and you can feel some pain, but over time, as you grow old, that pain might get worse. To prevent all this, you should take a daily dosage of B12. It is known that the vitamin promotes healthy bones and prevents osteoporosis at later ages.

There are also lots of studies that prove this. The lower the amount of B12 in the body, the bigger the risk of developing anemia or osteoporosis. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so implement this vitamin in your day-to-day diet.

Improves mood and helps with depression

All the vitamins from the B group come with tons of benefits, but this one is maybe the most valuable one. B vitamins help with mood improvement, and they help with depression. There are studies, and there are people who swear by it. Even some OTC mood pills have vitamin B in them.

The weight loss journey can be filled with both ups and downs, so feeling down, sad, depressed is totally normal and it’s fine. Just don’t let it consume you, because you got this. Try to relax, not think about things, or what the scale shows, and grab a B12 vitamin to help you get back to the old, happy you.

Energy boost

Vitamins are known to promote energy and keep you going throughout the day. But, how can this help your weight loss journey? It’s simple, once you have enough energy, you’ll be exercising more, and exercise is one of the three main things that make a weight loss journey successful. The other two are supplements and diet.

Once you start having more energy, you’ll be hitting the gym more, and you’ll be toning yourself, losing weight, becoming stronger, and happier. As long as you like what you see in the mirror, you might as well throw away the weight scale. Who would have thought that one vitamin can make such a great difference?
