Jack Skellington Cookies

Jack Skellington Cookies

Jack Skellington Cookies are inspired from Jack from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas that was produced back in 1993. I was a junior in high school then and it was all the rage as were the other characters. But Jack Skellington of course lived in a fantasy world that was based on the Halloween holiday. As I am sure you know he even has a pet ghost named Zero that has a glowing pumpkin nose.

So with Halloween just around the corner I decided that Jack Skellington Cookies were in order! Have fun whipping up a batch of these delicious cookies with your kids today and introduce them to the classic film, The Nightmare Before Christmas to make a fun family day out of it.

Halloween cookies

INGREDIENTS
Ready To Bake Sugar Cookies (I used Pillsbury)
2/3 cup Wilton white chocolate melts
1 tube Wilton black icing gel

Jack Skellington Cookies

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or leave ungreased.
2. Place the refrigerated cookie dough rounds on the cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 11-15 minutes or until golden brown.
4. Cool cookies for two minutes on the baking sheet.
5. Remove cookies from baking sheet and cool completely on a wire rack.
6. Microwave 1 Tablespoon of Crisco solid shortening in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds or until liquefied. (This will make the white chocolate melt smoother and more evenly).
7. Add the Wilton white chocolate melts and stir until completely melted. Let set for one minute to thicken.
8. Using a metal spatula, ice the top of each cooled sugar cookie with the melted white chocolate.
Let set for at least 20 minutes.
9. Using the Wilton black icing tube, pipe the face of Jack Skellington onto each cookie.
10. ENJOY!!

These look easy enough that I could probably do them without messing them up.

I miss the days of making cookies for my boys’ classrooms – they don’t have big parties anymore but I may still make these for home! We love Jack and the whole movie!
