Jell-o Gummy Worms Recipe

Jell-o Gummy Worms Recipe

I found this recipe on Pinterest and with having 3 kids, I thought that this would be THE perfect “snack”. Oh boy was I wrong LOL. I am going to share this with you anyhow because the recipe was yummy even though the “worms” didn’t turn out like they should have for me.

Ingredients:

3 packages of your favorite jell-o
¾ cup of cool whip
100 bendy straws
Rubber bands (if you need them)
And a tall glass cup (to hold the straws in place)

How to make your worms:

Place your straws snuggly in the cup (I started out with the mug and moved them into a taller drinking glass once I realized that it was too short)

Cook your jell-o packages according to the boxes

Mix in your cool whip.

Place it in the refrigerator to let it set up a touch.

I let mine sit a little too long and it was too thick, but I worked just fine. I let it sit to drain into the straws or pushed in in with my (clean) hand.

Now, I let it sit in the fridge for a few hours to set up completely. When we got them out, it was a mess (lol). I couldn’t figure out how to get the worms out of the straw. They would come out itty bitty. So we thought of another plan : )

We just started sucking them out of the straws!! It tasted so so good! I loved the cool whip in the jell-o. So when I tried this and I knew it didn’t work out. I started researching on some other blogs that have done this and failed lol. Here’s what I come up with.

* Don’t let it sit too long in the fridge before you pour into the straws
*Place in freezer to set over night
*let the jell-o cover the bottom of the cup or container and run hot water under to release the straws.
I am going to try this again soon in an different way. Keep an eye out for an update!
Let me know how yours turns out!
