Kansas City SeaLife Aquarium was absolutely breathtaking from the moment you walked around the first corner to the end of the exhibit! With each new exhibit we saw some amazing creatures and because there are over 5,000 there, I’m positive we didn’t see them all!! The atmosphere was very relaxed, soothing music was playing and each exhibit brought the ocean or fresh water fish right to us in a way that is nothing short of miraculous.
One of the first exhibits was the above video and it took you to a quite countryside where you would find freshwater streams and lakes. But you weren’t in the country long, after that exhibit we were whisked into the shoreline with the most amazing touchpools. The guide at the touchpools was very knowlegable about the species in the tank as well as friendly! The kids and adults alike had huge smiles on their faces while touching animals. Some were very prickly while others were silky smooth. It was actually one of the coolest things I have ever experienced!
After the Touchpool we visited the Harbor, a shipwreck, the ocean tank, the underwater ocean tunnel and so much more!! While at each station the kids had a questions to read and answers to find. If they filled out their card they got a prize at the end. So we all had fun looking for the right answer and of course they wanted the prize so they triple checked their answers to make sure they were right!
I love that it kept the kids engaged during the entire experience and even gave the parents a few extra minutes to enjoy the grander and beauty of all of the creatures housed in the aquarium.
There was a cinema as well that had a movie playing but we skipped the movie this time around because we were short on time! So be sure you allow enough time to do everything while you are there!
It appeared to us that this sea turtle only had one flipper but were quick to point out the aquarium probably rescued him. My niece Rain gets the photo credit on this one, I think she could have watched him all day!!
We went on our experience with visiting jellyfish, claws and of course the clowfish caves. Nemo really does live there, just ask Jade, she saw him!!
Seahorses have always been fascinating to me and there were several unique species in their aquarium. But one of our favorites was Stingray Bay because there were steps up and you could watch the stingrays swim under you! I loved that before you left the kids had the chance to play in the kids play zone to blow off a little more steam!! It was the perfect day and it would make a great educational field trip for schools!! It will definitely be a trip I make again in the future!!
And as promised they completed their cards and received their prize. So we had 3 happy girls at the end of our amazing visit. Be sure to check out Kansas City SeaLife Aquarium on their website! Watch the video below for lots of great glimpses into this amazing experience.
