Kevin Feige Interviewing The Producer of Captain America

Kevin Feige who is the President of Marvel Studios took time out of his busy schedule for us to interview him while we were out in Los Angeles. Because he is the the producer of Captain America as well it was a pretty cool interview!!

We learned a lot about Marvel, Captain America as well as some great new projects that are in the works. Captain America The Winter Soldier is set to be in theaters on April 4, 2014. But there is no rest in the movie industry so they are now currently working on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” in the cutting room which comes out on August 1st. Then they will work on Avengers Age of Ultron which will be out in May of 2015!! But Marvel doesn’t stop there because they will then start filming “Ant-Man” with Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd that will be released in July of 2015! But never fear Marvel fans they are working on a number of things for 2016/2017 but haven’t announced those yet!

We haven’t announced what comes after that in 2016/2017 but we’re actively working on, uh, you know, any number of things, uh, and are beginning to hone in on sort of exactly what the Movies will be in — in ’16 and ’17 but it’s slightly too early to talk about.

Some of the problems that they had creating a big screen movie versus comics. Because it has never been done in the last 100 years it is very good to step outside of the box. But it is a very character by character, studio by studio but they became their own studio. Which is where the first Ironman movie came into play and then they tied the two together.

The biggest challenge is making it, making that continuity and that interconnectivity broaden the, uh, the Universe, broaden the Audience as opposed to make it feel like a Club, making it fold in on itself. As well as  needin to know everything that’s going to — to see any of these Movies. We work very hard to make each of the Movies feel like a stand-alone Movie, um, but at the same time connect in to — to everything else. And that’s, uh, I wouldn’t say that’s the biggest challenge but that’s — that’s been our sort of, uh, our Mission Statement and that’s what we try to stick to.

Because they include older Superheros into their new movies it is the best way to bring Villians into the movie. Thus allowing new generations of people to enjoy Heros and Villians into the movies such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Here are Kevin’s thoughts on the controversy around the Winter Soldier.

Well no they had already done it. You know, they’re — they’re, Comic Fans always knew sort of two things in — in about peak Characters die and come back to life in Comics, in like in Soap Operas, like in any sort of Fiction all the time. But there are two Characters in the Marvel Universe that are never gonna come back to life, Uncle Ben and Bucky Barnes. And about 10 years ago or 12 years ago, a Comic Book, uh, Writer, Ed Brubaker went to Publishing. I didn’t — I didn’t have anything to do with it, went to Publishing and said, I have an idea to bring Bucky Barnes back. And I’m sure they’re like what are you talking about? You can’t do that. And they pitched the idea and it was great. And it was the Winter Soldier idea and it was done so well and you’re right, I think Fans went No, you can’t– Oh that’s great, we love that. Um, that we just — we just took the successful blueprint that they had already done and brought it into this Movie.

His job at Marvel is to keep the movies interesting and not cookie cutter like. Each movie he is involved in has to be unique as well as the origins back in 1940s but that they are present day. It’s all an adventure and the challenge is to not overdo it. We want our fans to love the movies as well as fall in love with the characters.

His goal is to make each Marvel Studio’s Movie unique, and feel like its own fresh entity. But bring the comics to the big screen for those who aren’t familiar with those characters. So I hope people are as excited as we are to see something wholly new and wholly original. That’s what I’m most excited about.

He is an amazingly talented man and gave us a glimpse into the Marvel World. Be sure you get the Captain America Activity Sheets and Captain America: The Winter Soldier Coloring Sheets available for you to print as well!

Be sure to follow Captain America on Facebook and Twitter too!! Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes to theaters on April 4, 2014 so be sure you go and watch this great movie!!

*Disclosure: I received an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles for the #ABCTVEvent and #Disneyevents in exchange for my coverage. All opinions are 100% my own.
