Kubo and The Two Strings

*I received airfare and accommodations for attending the Press Junket, however as always opinions are 100% my own.

Kubo and The Two Strings is an amazing movie that everyone needs to go and watch. While on the press junket trip last July I was able to see the finished movie and I can’t wait to see it again. Kubo and The Two Strings tells a story about Kubo (Art Parkinson) that will go on an epic battle to stop the evil Moon King. Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) by his side he travels all over Japan searching for his Father’s magical armor. While on their journey the trio learn more about themselves, discover the truth and learn about the past.

Kubo and The Two Strings

Kubo’s quest to find the armor consisting of four important pieces is really a journey about finding himself. Which is really parallel to life if you think about it, because each decision we make leads to a new adventure in life. The movie is incredibly heartwarming as well as sad at times. But we all need to remember that what happens in the past doesn’t define us, and we shouldn’t let the past control us.

Here are a few facts about Kubo and The Two Strings.

  • All of the main characters are actual puppets, on actual stages being moved at 24 frames per minute. (SLOW)
  • It took filmmakers 5 years to finish the film. The detail was beyond amazing to see on the big screen.
  • Even though letting go is hard all parents must do so in order to watch their child reach their full potential.
  • Life has way of keeping us balanced.
  • Paper runs out as does patience, just remember to always try.

Head out to the theater to watch this amazing film on August 19, 2016. The entire family will love it and learn something about themselves in the process. I know that I did!

Kubo and the Two Strings is an epic action-adventure set in a fantastical Japan from acclaimed animation studio LAIKA. Clever, kindhearted Kubo (voiced by Art Parkinson of “Game of Thrones”) ekes out a humble living, telling stories to the people of his seaside town including Hosato (George Takei), Akihiro (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), and Kameyo (Academy Award nominee Brenda Vaccaro). But his relatively quiet existence is shattered when he accidentally summons a spirit from his past which storms down from the heavens to enforce an age-old vendetta. Now on the run, Kubo joins forces with Monkey (Academy Award winner Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey), and sets out on a thrilling quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the greatest samurai warrior the world has ever known. With the help of his shamisen – a magical musical instrument – Kubo must battle gods and monsters, including the vengeful Moon King (Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes) and the evil twin Sisters (Academy Award nominee Rooney Mara), to unlock the secret of his legacy, reunite his family, and fulfill his heroic destiny.

The biggest misconception or false belief is that 'laughter is the best medicine'. Not only is this dangerous and short-sighted, but it shows that you cast doubt on centuries of scientific advancements. However, these other misconceptions must be tended with. Not all treatment is the same. 1. The federal agency and big pharma are holding out on us The first & foremost thing to realize is that both the federal administration and your doctor are allied with you. Your safety is their paramount concern, so they will not haphazardly give the ok to pharmaceuticals that are not safe, or have not been sufficiently tested yet. 2. Treatment is necessary for all types of cancer Your treatment is entirely up to you, and some patients may choose to do without any sort of cancer treatments if they have either cancer that is very slow-growing or one that has already advanced into its later stages. Many people with advanced cancer feel the benefits treatment will give them are not made up for by the unpleasantness of treatment. Similarly, if it is slow-growing, people might decide to wait and see. Treatment is always an option later in life. 3. Cancer treatment is a cancer treatment A huge myth is that every cancer is treated alike. Think about it; two people can have the same cancer, same stage, same everything. However, due to their genetic makeup, they may process the chemotherapy and other medications differently. Your cancer treatment will be bespoke, perfectly fitted to your life and genetics. 4. Cancer hurts One thing people tend to think often is that cancer will always be this painful odyssey of depression. However, many cancers do not present with any sort of pain at all, and most only start to hurt when they get into the later stages. However, some cancers are fraught with pain as a hallmark of sorts. To deal with these many cancer specialists and doctors have also been trained in pain relief. 5. Surgery or needle biopsy can cause cancer to spread Those dealing with concurrent health problems they must face on a daily basis in addition to cancer will do well to heed this: It is impractical to postpone life-altering procedures because you're afraid of what has not been scientifically proven. Cancer is, in effect, mutated cells. They often travel because they don't really care what type of cell it is, only that they can change it. An outside force will not trigger this. If surgery of the prognosis from a needle biopsy can improve your quality of life, don't use cancer as an excuse not to undergo the essential treatment. 6. Getting treatment means upsetting your life So many people think that if they choose to start cancer treatment, it means they will have to ave home, be away from their support network, uproot their lives. However, a lot of cancers are easily treated as an outpatient procedure at a hospital of your choice. A lot of cancer research is about how to continue to live a healthy life while undergoing these treatments. As a society, we have so many things to say about cancer. However, some of the opinions we tout as fact have been debunked. If you are diagnosed with cancer, it is to be hoped that this list can better help you make a decision when choosing whether or not to seek treatment.
