Lady and Sons Savannah Georgia
Deen Family Restaurant
Lady and Sons Savannah Georgia is a wonderful spot to grab a bite to eat while visiting Savannah! The first night we were in town it was one of our first stops because my Mother-in-Law is a Paula Deen fan! I’ve been a fan for years as well and love cooking out of her cookbook, so I was eager to go eat there as well. If it is a Paula Deen recipe it has to be good right? We arrived and because our party was so large 15, we were told it would be about 30 minutes of a wait, which we expected. But they got us in to eat in probably 20 minutes, so A+ on customer service.
A Selfie with the Deen Family?
We were ushered inside and got in line to ride the elevator, which I wasn’t expecting but it makes sense because it is a multi-story building. While we waited for the elevator, my Father-in-Law needed a picture with the Deen family! But I will save that picture for another day, here is some of the charming furniture that makes the Lady and Sons atmosphere so great. Our daughter Elizabeth, of course, had to have a selfie with the Deen family, which blew up her Facebook account with people who were jealous. But someone finally figured out they were, of course, a poster, but it is still talked about to this day!
We quickly rode the elevator to the third flour and were ushered quickly to our table to find the other guests. We already had menus at our places and they quickly brought around cornbread cakes and cheddar cheese rolls. Then, our drinks were delivered and our waiter Ty was doing fabulous!
Everyone but me decided to eat the buffet, but the seafood was calling my name so I ordered the Fresh Seafood and waited patiently for my food. While everyone was eating I enjoyed my cornbread, biscuit and my first glass of delicious tea. My glass never stayed empty either which is a definite plus in my book. At long last (it wasn’t long really) my food arrived and I was in heaven!!
I had fresh coleslaw with a pickled green tomato on top, fresh shrimp, scallops, oysters, fried potatoes and fried collard greens. Let’s just say that I was pretty much in heaven and the collard greens ended up being one my favorites and I expected them to be my least favorite!! But all of that southern style food was worth the wait because mine was delicious as was everyone else’s food. I think that the tarter sauce was another favorite which is surprising because I usually don’t like it. The oysters were good if you liked oysters, but I quickly decided they weren’t for me. But Mr. SMSL and my Father-in-Law ate them for me!
With the buffets came a dessert and this was the Gooey Butter Cake, but they also had Peach Cobbler as well as Banana Pudding. All of the desserts were equally as delicious, I was lucky enough to be next to kids who didn’t mind to share their desserts. All in all our visit to Lady and Sons was amazing and the food was fabulous! It was definitely a meal to remember so the next time you are in Savannah be sure to stop into Lady and Sons for a home-cooked southern meal. Are you a Bag Lady?? Me too!
