Lauritzen Gardens Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska should be on everyone’s must do list when they are in the area. Earlier this month my Mom and I had to travel to Omaha for an overnight stay and we had a little bit of free time. During our stay we visited Durham Museum as well as Lauritzen Gardens which are both equally impressive and a great addition to any itinerary while visiting Omaha.
The Lauritzen Gardens is an 100 acre site that is simply breathtaking from the moment you step out of the car! Mom and I enjoyed looking at all of the great gardens, the gift shop and of course the Marjorie K. Daughtery Conservatory the day we visited. We were there for several hours, but didn’t make a dent in the hundred acres of The Lauritzen Gardens, so it is on our must visit again list! Most of the staff was very helpful while we were visiting, but because it is a self guided tour each guest goes at their own pace.
The 50 minute Tram Tour for an additional $3 is a great addition to the gardens because it makes it more handicapped accessible. The gardeners that we happened across were very knowledgeable as well as helpful and took time out of their busy days to talk to guests as they were walking past. Among the 100 acres includes an outstanding view of the Missouri River and several gardens.
I would highly suggest comfortable walking shoes, bringing bottles of water to drink and have plenty of time to see all of the gardens. We spent several hours in just the first “half” if you will and never got to see most of the gardens. Some of the gardens include a rose garden, Victorian garden, children’s gardens and arboretum. Just be sure you arrive early and plan to stay all day because I don’t feel like we saw everything they had to offer. We will definitely be heading back to visit again because what we saw was absolutely amazing!
