How To Make Sweet Treats Healthy

If you have a sweet tooth and are trying to eat healthily, it can be hard. We’re constantly told that cakes, eclairs, and muffins are bad for us and we should steer clear. Whilst this is true for store-bought sweet treats, making desserts yourself is often far healthier. Fewer ingredients, less sugar, and a whole lot more healthy, homemade sweet treats are the way to go. Here’s a list of some of the best sweet treats out there, which won’t interfere with your healthy eating.

Raspberry Chocolate Brownies

Similar to normal brownies but so much healthier. The big difference with these sweet treats is swapping normal sugar for coconut sugar. Coconut sugar isn’t completely healthy, but it does contain nutrients found in coconut palms. It’s a good switch to make your brownies that little bit healthier whilst still getting that sweet flavor. The raspberries are a great addition because they mean you can cut down on sugar. Whilst the overwhelming taste in shop-bought brownies is sugar, these brownies are both sharp and sweet. Use dark chocolate too. The higher the percentage the better.

Baked Pears

These are a good way to get your sugar fix. Unlike sugar and chocolate laden store bought desserts, this sweet treat is far for adult and complex in flavor. Start by preheating the oven then halve the pears and scoop out a little of the center. Sprinkle the pears with a little cinnamon too. Next combine some oats, almonds, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl with a little melted butter to bind. Put this mixture into the pear halves and bake! These are every bit as indulgent as store-bought desserts but so much healthier.

Pancakes

Pancakes are fine in moderation, but it’s all about the toppings. Pancakes themselves are inoffensive as a treat every once in a while. Is the toppings that ramp up the sugar levels. Keep the amount of butter and syrup you use to a minimum. Top your pancakes with fruits instead of chocolate too. Sorbet, Yogurt, Fruit Salad
Perhaps less exciting that the others but sorbets, yogurt with honey, and fruit salads are all healthier alternative desserts. They’re great for summertime too because they’re so refreshing and easy to make. Combine your favorite fruits for a fruit salad, or to top some yogurt.
