Maleficent Movie Review
MALEFICENT (in Digital 3D) DISNEY
Growing up watching Sleeping Beauty I knew that this movie would be fantastic and a must watch for me! I was lucky enough to get to travel to Olathe with my best friend Amanda for a pre-screening of this amazing show! I was enthralled with the movie before it even started and new that it was going to be an excellent movie. We were ushered into the cinema, handed our 3D glasses, found our seats that had our names on them and sat down and waited patiently for the movie to start.
The movie was magnificent from the first screen of the movie until the last scene was finished. Each scene kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and told the story beautifully. Because this movie was built around the story line of the “untold story of the most iconic villain,” from Sleeping Beauty I knew it was going to be fabulous. Throughout the years we have been brought up to think that Maleficent was really the villain who was responsible for all of the trouble Aurora was put through in her life.
But what we found out is that Maleficent cared for Aurora as if she was her own and wasn’t really the villain after all. Aurora as well as Maleficent had to come to terms with their own battles to find the peace in all of the land.
I at first was very concerned with the Science Fiction look that Maleficent had, but within the first couple of scenes those concerns were laid to rest. Maleficent is rated PG but it isn’t to scary for most children, in my opinion. I could see where smaller kids under 5 would be a little scared, but it was so beautifully done that magic over powered the scary aspect at least for me. Through conflict, love, revenge and desire the once Villain of Sleeping Beauty is brought into a new light!
