Megabus Supports Breast Cancer

Megabus Supports Breast Cancer

Most of us have been affected by cancer at one time or another in our lives. I personally have been affected by several people in my family with different types of cancer. Each patient as well as cancer tells their own story, but one type of cancer that I hold nearest to my heart is breast cancer.

Why breast cancer?

Because I’m a woman first and foremost but also because it is one of the leading cancers in women. Reason #2 is a friend of mine whom we will call Cathy. Cathy is a breast cancer survivor for going on two years now, but the struggle Cathy endured was unlike that of any other cancer.

During the last two years Cathy has endured silent battles and fights within herself that isn’t openly talked about by most people. Some of those include:

  • A nightstand covered with medications that help save the cancer patients life.
  • Exhaustion and depression all while going through treatments that they hope will save their life.
  • Excruciating bone pain, with joints so stiff that you can’t move, throbbing pain in your muscles and of course hot flashes.
  • But Cathy has also endured 9 surgeries, countless hours of chemo therapy and is lucky to be alive.

The life they once knew is a distant memory and their kids no matter what the age have be just as strong as the breast cancer patient themselves. But two years later Cathy is still with us even though cancer tried to rule her world, she has managed to stay positive and survive. While she still has cancer, she is living life to the fullest each day. Join me in the fight against Breast cancer along with Megabus and help the women everywhere that is suffering from this disease.

Why Megabus?, the company that offers express bus service to more than 100 cities across North America, is donating $1 for every ticket sold on January 19 to support breast cancer. With an average of 20,000 tickets sold daily, the funds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

MegaBus Pink Bus

Kicking off the effort, breast cancer survivors and their loves ones will christen a new custom pink and BCRF branded Megabus which will be hitting the road this winter for a special trip to New York City. The bus will depart from the headquarters with company executives and BCRF leadership aboard and head to New York City to attend a taping of The View. For someone like Cathy this would be a very welcomed break from their daily “cancer” and will allow them to have a normal life for a day.

Be sure to help Megabus and Breast Cancer patients everywhere on January 19th.
