Movies and Entertainment
Movies and Entertainment go hand in hand right? We have a very diverse liking here at the SMSL’s household but there is always a new movie that we can’t wait to watch. The only movie that I don’t enjoy are Horror movies, but the other two in my house watch them together! We prefer comedy, action, kids movies and of course Disney movies. But there isn’t very many that we won’t at least try to watch.
Growing up my mom Linda always had us watching something, from Westerns to Disney we watched them all. With the exception of horror movies because she didn’t like them but our Nana would sneak them in for us! Watching movies has been something we have done for entertainment for years, but in recent years I’ve had more movie experience than I ever thought possible.
I’ve been blogging for four years and I work closely with some PR reps that allows me to see lots of great movies, attend advanced screenings, interview actors and actresses as well as attend red carpet events. I’ve been to several sets including some ABC show sets including General Hospital, Grey’s Anatomy as well as the Middle! I’ve seen some behind the scenes footage and original artwork of some fabulous Disney movies as well. I absolutely love the things that I have done and would love to continue to do so.
I also have 25 nieces and nephews varying in ages from just born to the age of 20 so we have the gamete covered for all types of movies. So the next time you are looking for something to do, take the family to a local cinema and see a new release! I promise the memories you make will last a lifetime and the time together is priceless!!
What is your favorite movie of all time?

I can relate, but my parents took us to the horror movies because they liked them….me….not so much. Gotta say I’m a little jealous of all the behind the scenes/red carpet stuff you do….because that sounds like so much fun.

I have too many favorite movies! Haha! Horror is my number one genre, (and has been), since I was young. If I’m not watching scary films, then I’m watching documentaries. An all-time favorite documentary that I love is, “Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father.”

You summed up my feelings with your last statement about family outings to the movies! Time flies by so quickly! I have 15 grandkids from age 21 down to 4 years of age and we love going to the show together! Unfortunately, nowadays, I think Hollywood is making way too many horror movies! Friday the 13th, Halloween, Child’s Play, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. And let’s not forget all of the sequels also!! We like going to Disney, comedies, and superhero movies. The special effects and the technicolor are awesome! I’d like to add that as a family, we are really SAD that this is going to be The Middle’s last season!! Why? It is still one of the best shows on TV!!

The movies I enjoy watching were seen at a very young age. In elementary school we would have movie days. I remember watching the classics Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows, Born Free, For the Love of Benji and Lassie. I still enjoy them but one movie that I finally found on DVD was called Ring of Bright Water. I’d seen that when I was very young so I always associated it with the main character an otter named Mij. So the movie was so hard for me to find. When I realized that William Travers & Virgina McKenna of Born Free were in it well, that made my search easier. After watching that movie, I wanted a pet otter for the longest time. Mind you it is sad but it is movie added to my favorites collection. Besides the movies mentioned above, I must include Paper Moon, Uncle Buck, Drop Dead Fred, Shag the movie, Eight Below, Max, To Kill a Mockingbird, Reality Bites, Francis the talking Mule, Laurel & Hardy, The Little Rascals, Snoopy come Home, Blast from the Past and Head over Heels.

We are movie lovers too with the exception of horror/satanic movies because that’s not entertainment. It’s what we do as family bonding since I’m mostly bed ridden everyone snuggles into my bed or i can occasionally sit on the couch and watch anything together! every great once in a while, we can go to the theater as a family! We are hoping to someday God-willing get a projector so we can watch movies outdoors! we used to love going to the drive-in but because of my health and people smoking we no longer can ever go. but we have a good sized yard, now just need the equipment!

I am such a movie buff! I used to get into soap operas long ago. But they got boring after I would always guess what happened next! I like suspense and a good mystery! But you are right! My grandkids do like going to the movies, better than sitting at home watching the same TV shows over and over again. I like so many different movies that it is hard to pick just one!! I really love Forrest Gump!
