My Pixar Campus Tour with The Good Dinosaur
*Disclosure: I received an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles for the coverage of several press events for Disney, Pixar and Google. All opinions are 100% my own.
Visiting The Pixar Campus in San Francisco was something that I had on my bucket list but never really expected it to be crossed off. However, earlier this month I was invited on a press trip with Disney/Pixar and one of the days we got to spend at the Pixar Campus. It was nothing short of amazing to be on the campus alone, but the behind the scenes things we got to see and do were like no other trip I’ve been on.
The excitement I felt being on the campus is something that I will never forget, it was exciting, new and of course exciting but I knew that we were in for a treat while there. We of course were able to see the famous Pixar light which is Luxor Jr and the ball is the deflated ball from when Luxor Jr got started. Which was more than epic to sum it up in one word. But then we were ushered into The Steve Jobs Building and it was surreal.
The atrium is used as a gathering place where the masters behind the Pixar magic meet, interact and come up with the next big idea. The entire building was paid for by the movie A Bugs Life but even comes equipped with safety features in case of an earthquake. For example the entire building can move in any direction for three feet making it safe and of course full of life on any day of the week.
But this atrium was full of hustle and bustle with strangers from the outside (bloggers like myself) as well as Pixar staff meeting, talking, working and so much more. It was amazing to see the life size banners of the dinosaurs hanging from the ceiling of the main dinosaurs along with other Pixar characters throughout the building.
Throughout the entire building were lots of original drawings, artwork, story boards and so much more surrounding the films Inside Out and of course The Good Dinosaur. We even had time to shop at the Pixar Store and pick up goodies for our family members and of course ourselves. It was a day filled with information, awesome people and of course some of the old tried and true Pixar characters such as Woody/Buzz, Nemo and Dory and so many more.
But I would have to say that one of the highlights of the day was when John Lasseter himself walked in the doors and up the stairs on his way to work. I know that there were several of us that were speechless that the man himself was there working at the same time we were visiting!
P.S! Did you know that Sam Elliott is the voice of Butch??
The Good Dinosaur opens in theaters on November 25th!
It is a must watch for my family for sure!
