National Glazed Spiral Ham Day
National Glazed Spiral Ham Day is celebrated each year on April 15th! We usually have ham at Easter, but not on this food holiday. Spiral cut ham was invented in the 1950’s when Harry J. Hoenselaar invented a machine that could cut a ham in one long continuous spiral. Glazed spiral ham is most often a dish served in celebration of holidays; especially Easter. There are many variations of this recipe but the common glazing ingredients are sugar, honey, orange juice and spices. Some people like to pin pineapples and cherries to the ham with toothpicks. The house smells wonderful and festive when a glazed ham is in the oven! Celebrate the day and bake a glazed spiral ham for your family on April 15th!
