Netflix Has Taken Over The World: Check Out These 2017 Originals

Netflix has stormed the world of entertainment over the last couple of years. In fact, it’s success is so extreme that many analysts have sounded the death knell on traditional cable, suggesting that it will be replaced by Netflix in just a few years and we’ll all be streaming our entertainment through the service.

But Netflix is doing more than just streaming content from other platforms. It’s realized that if it wants to continue making big money, it’s got to create its own shows using its massive budget. According to securethoughts.com, however, some Netflix customers have had trouble accessing content through virtual private networks. Here are some 2017 originals coming our way this year and how to access them.

Anne With An E

This year Netflix will stream Anne with an E, an adaptation of L. M. Montgomery’s novel entitled Anne of Green Gables. The show has already kicked off with a two-hour special, and many people are looking forward to the next installment to see what will happen to Anne herself. Many expect it to be a great series, since Moira Walley-Beckett, the writer behind the award-winning Breaking Bad, is overseeing the script.

Gypsy

The man who directed Fifty Shades of Grey, Sam-Taylor Johnson is returning to direct the first two episodes of Gypsy. Gypsy, starring Naomi Watts is a psychological thriller series that follows a therapist who enters into intimate relationships with her patients. Watt’s husband will be played by Billy Crudup.

Big Mouth

Big Mouth is an IP with a lot of potentials. It’s supposed to be a surreal comedy series, and it features some of the big guns from the genre. Behind the script is Andrew Goldberg from Family Guy and the series follows Goldberg and his best friend Nick Kroll on adventures from their teenage years. The series will go out sometime later this year and will be broken up into 10 half-hour episodes. Voice actors include Fred Armisen, Jenny Slate and Jessi Klein to mention a few.

Mind Hunter

Netflix understands that if it wants to compete with the regular cable and TV channels, it needs to add a crime drama to its list of programs. Mind Hunter is exactly that says cheatsheet.com. This series follows a group of FBI agents in 1979 and is based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Series Crime Unit. The show features two FBI agents: Holt McCallany and Jonathan Groff who make it their business to interview the worst serial killers in their city, trying to solve cases. It sounds very much like it’s going to be a grim, grizzly series with plenty of bloodshed and intrigue. We’re expecting this one to release at some point later in the year, possibly October.

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later

Netflix loves a bit of nostalgia, so they’re reuniting the Camp Firewood crew. The sequel to the original Wet Hot American Summer is, as you might have guessed, set ten years later. The idea of the show is to follow all the characters and to see how they’ve all turned out.
