One of the best parts of any adventure is capturing important moments and monuments through the lens of your camera. You can always revisit that moment and how you felt, enjoying life and experiencing new things. If you’re looking for cities to travel to or live in that have that “instagrammable” quality, look no further than San Antonio, Tx. There are so many incredible, photo-worthy places around this culturally-rich city. Here are a few of the best spots to check out if you’re looking to get behind (or in front of) the camera and capture something unforgettable.
The Alamo
We all remember the Alamo, right? Who could forget! The Alamo Mission was built in 1718 and is known for being the sight of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. The battle, which was fought between the Republic of Texas and Mexico, is an integral part of the state’s history. The most picture-worthy spot is the Long Barrack, which is the Alamo’s oldest and most iconic building, and the location of the soldiers’ last stand during the war.
Majestic Theater
The marquee on the front of the Majestic Theater solidifies, before entering through the doors, the idea that this building must be a relic from the past. In fact, it is actually on the National Register of Historic Places and is considered a historic landmark, since it’s the oldest theater in San Antonio. The Majestic first opened its doors in June 14, 1929 and, to this day, you can still attend a concert, symphony, or broadway show in this gorgeous architectural wonder. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and snap a photo out front with the iconic marquee.
Essex Modern City
Home to some of the coolest modern art in Texas, Essex Modern City was created as an urban art gallery, a place of expression for locals and tourists alike. Now, Essex Modern City is more than just an art project – it’s an iconic piece of San Antonio history and a bustling destination for those looking to snap a photo of the latest piece of street art. The best time to visit is on Second Saturdays, when you can enjoy live music and watch as more art is created on the site of what will soon be a mixed-use urban space, including offices, shops, and San Antonio apartments.
Paper Tiger
San Antono’s Paper Tiger is one of the city’s coolest venues to enjoy live music of all genres. The building itself has such a cool look to it, with interesting geometric patterns and some incredible graffiti art done on the side. If you’re looking for a quick place to snap photos with friends before checking out great music on a Friday night, this is the perfect spot.
