5 questions every bride should ask her photographer

Questions to Ask Your Wedding Photographer
Hiring a photographer is one of the hardest parts of planning a wedding. After it is all said and done you will have the pictures left to remember the day, so you want to make sure they are perfect. You can hire a novice or a professional, but make sure you don’t hire a single person to take your wedding photographs without first asking them these important five questions.
Do they have photos to show?
This should seriously be a no-brainer, but many brides don’t ask it the right way. What you should ask is “Do you have photographs to show me that are similar to my style and what I want?” Because, while more experienced DC wedding photographers, or photographers wherever you are, may have a proper website with a portfolio on it for you to browse at your leisure, even the most novice photographer will have some photographs they are able to show you, but will they have the style and eye you need to capture the images you desire?
What is their availability?
Will they even be able to do the photographs you want? If they aren’t booked, will they just be there for the ceremony, or does their price include reception, before and after pictures, and anything else you may need? Tell them all of the ideas you have and make sure they will have the time to be there for all of them.
What is their price?
You need to know what you will be spending, of course. Ask them what they charge and what all that includes. For example, do you get a CD with photos, or do you only get a limited number of pictures? Will there be edited and unedited versions of your photographs? Do you keep the rights to all of them or does the photographer?
What is their booking policy?
If your wedding is in four weeks, they may already be booked up. If they aren’t that loaded down, though, you may have a chance at getting them booked. Find out what their deposits are, when you pay the full amount, and when you can expect to receive your completed photographs.

Do they offer discounts?
Don’t be shy about this question! Some places offer packages to give a variety of prices. Ask what they have and if there are any discounts available to you. Make sure that they fit your wedding budget, and if not keep looking for the right photographer. If you are in Missouri I highly recommend Michelle Hanes with Evermore Photography. Be sure to tell her Heidi sent you and as soon as I have her wedding images I will share them with you!
