Favorite Quotes from Loving
As I reflect on the film Loving, I can’t wait to see it again and again. It is one of the most inspirational films I’ve seen in a long time, but it has lots of lessons that we need to implement even today. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the film Loving.
A robin is a robin, and a sparrow is a sparrow they are different for a reason. It was a very frustrating scene for Richard and heartwrenching as well. But the frustration of trying to form the right words seemed like it was almost impossible for him to do, but the silence in that scene told the perfect love story.

“I’m going to build you a house right here, our house.” Followed by Mildred, “would you marry me?”

Her reply made me tear up a little bit when she said, “You never should of married that girl, I like a lot of people but you shouldn’t have done what you did, you knew better.” At which time Richard look defeated almost but it was such a happy moment that it was bittersweet and of course the law showed up.
We are moving back to the country…I don’t care what they do to us, I want to raise my family at home. Which was back in Caroline County, Virginia but the battles they would fight would lead to great things.
It will be fine, We may lose the small battles but we will win the war.
The love they shared on the couch was perfect. It showed what real loved looked like despite their differences and the one thing they never lost was hope and their innocent love for one another.
The lawyer asked Richard and Mildred if they would go to the Supreme Court for their hearing. And they both decided that they wouldn’t attend and the lawyer tried again by telling them 1 out of 400 cases gets heard by the Supreme Court and if there was anything he wanted to tell the judge. His answer was so simple but yet heart-wrenching.

But after 10 years of battles they finally won the war. Mildred and Richard were very reluctant to be a hero, but in fact that is what they were.
