Red Velvet Cookie Recipe

Growing up one of my all time favorite desserts at the holidays was Red Velvet Cake. My Nana could make the best one I had ever had and each year I looked forward to it more and more. While she shared her recipe with us grandchildren, I still cannot to this day make a Red Velvet Cake to save my soul. My sister Heather on the other hand makes them almost monthly and once in awhile I get my hands on some of it and enjoy hers. While it is the same recipe Nana made I swear it tastes a little different, but things always do when you get older right? While my Nana is no longer here with us, I can still smile and think about the memories of years gone by and eating her Red Velvet Cake. But when you can’t make something you come up with an alternate right??

So, we tried our hand at Red Velvet Cookies and I am happy to report they are delicious and a very close second. Here is the recipe we used.

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
