Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

*I received a copy of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in order to facilitate this review, however all opinions are 100% my own.

Rogue One

Let me start this one by telling you a little story. In High school I had a “guy” friend that absolutely LOVED Star Wars, almost more than life itself. One Star Wars Movie had made it’s way to our local theater and he asked if I would go with him. I reluctantly agreed because Star Wars was never really on my radar, we made a full day of it by eating at our favorite Chinese Restaurant (that is no longer in business sadly) but 20ish years ago it was the place to go. Followed up by a trip to the movies dutch treat of course because that is how we always did things. We got to the theater in time to purchase pop and popcorn took our seats and settled in for the show. I would LOVE to tell you I remember which Star Wars film we watched, but the truth is I don’t remember.

I do however remember leaning over and asking who this character was, that character, why they were doing xyz. In fact I ended up asking a few to many questions, because the people behind us told me to shut up, because I was ruining the movie for them. So….he gave me an I’m sorry look and I sat through the film counting down the minutes until it was over. To say it wasn’t a good experience is probably the understatement of the year.

But I survived….but after that experience we had Star Wars marathons to “catch me up to speed”. We went again a few years later and that experience was a whole new story. While I’m not a die hard “Star Wars fan” I do appreciate them a little more than I did at one time because of the hours I spent studying up on characters, story lines and so much more. But over 20 years later Lucasfilm released it’s first-ever standalone Star Wars Adventure, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY. People everywhere can actually watch a Star Wars movie and not be in the same horrible scenario I was in at one time. In an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. I do think that even the most die hard fans will fall in love with the story though so be sure you get “ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY” EARLY ON MARCH 24TH on Digital, and on Blu-ray April 4,2017.

My boyfriend keeps asking me where are the people from the last movie, did they change actresses? We didn’t realize this new one is out of sequence with the last one.
