The No Nonsense Guide to Selfie Scavenger Hunts
Fun, Fun, and yet more Fun! Selfie scavenger hunts are a great way to break the ice at the beginning of a workshop or conference session. Not as serious as icebreakers and instead go with a “game” feel. These hunts also have the benefit, believe it or not, of working like a great team building exercise!
There is no doubt that this generation loves to take selfies. You can walk down the street and literally see someone taking a selfie. Take your selfie taking obsession to a new level with something known as a Selfie Scavenger Hunt and would make the perfect party theme! Everyone already has a cell phone, so why not utilize it and have some fun? Here’s how it goes:
Plan to have people over.
Invite your friends and family over. You can even send them a selfie inviting them to come over to your Selfie Scavenger Hunt.
Make sure to have a cell phone or camera.
Your Selfie Scavenger Hunt won’t be complete without a cell phone or camera. You’ll need this to take all of your fun selfies. Decide on where you’ll do the Selfie Scavenger Hunt.
What I love about this Selfie Scavenger Hunt is that you have multiple options. You can do the Selfie Scavenger Hunt at the mall, indoor, outdoor, or even do a holiday version. I keep thinking of how much fun this would be at the holidays because no one would be bored! This would also be a great activity for teens, youth groups, or just a sleepover.
Have a Selfie Scavenger Hunt!
You can split into groups or go off on your own, but this Selfie Scavenger Hunt is a ton of fun. The person or team to get through the list wins, or whoever has the most marked of the list. It doesn’t matter how you set up the rules as long as everyone knows the rules.
You can even have fun prizes set aside for the winner(s) which can include selfie sticks, snacks, gum, or Dollar Store bargains. Don’t forget goodie bags and or gift cards that always make teens smile!

There is absolutely no doubt that this is the time for all things Selfies! While I’m not a great selfie picture taker our grandson “Tater” is upping his selfie game at just 9 moths old. Watch out Grandma there’s a new boy in town and he will take more selfies in his lifetime than you ever will, but that’s ok, because I love to talk about Selfies so we are even right?

I’m a grandma looking for some quick & easy ideas of things to do with my tween granddaughter on occasional days off of school (we live in the midwest and she gets days off for the fair). I love the selfie scavenger hunt…especially the outdoors and indoors ones. But, when I try to print them, they come within the entire 19 pages of the post and then end up being even too small to see with a microscope. Since a techie I’m not, I always assume the problem is with me. Any help you can give would be appreciated! I always want to be known as the “fun grandma” so this would really help!

How much time did you give the teams to complete the scavenger hunt?

We did an hour time limit but it is really up to the host. It would also depend on which hunt you are going to do but it could easily be done in 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the hunt. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I love this idea, but I don’t understand the game. Is it the first person that takes a selfie with everything listed wins? And then once a person takes the selfie, how do you know who wins the scavenger hunt? Or, are groups trying to find the selfie listed since it’s a Scavenger Hunt?

You can have individual players or teams it is up to you.
The first person or teams to get all of the selfies or the most selfies win.
You would have the teams take a selfie by the item listed. Then when time is up a judge would check out the selfies to declare a winner. I hope that helps. 🙂
