Shorts are one of my all time favorite Walt Disney inspired animations! It all started back in the day with Steamboat Willie and have they evolved since then. This collection is a must own and watch because each short is just as magical as Steamboat Willie.
Frozen Fever (2015) – Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee, Peter Del Vecho, Aimee Scribner told us about the challenges of creating two beautiful dresses for Ana and Elsa. But I think that my favorite was when Olaf changed the sign to say Day Banana Hippie Hat instead of Happy Birthday!
Feast (2014) – Academy Award® Winner, Patrick Osborne, Kristina Reed and it appeared before Big Hero 6! This adorable short tells a story of a pet and how life changes when new things are introduced into life.
Get A Horse! (2013) – Academy Award® Nominated, Dorothy McKim, Eric Goldberg, Adam Green made the perfect short using Walt Disney’s own voice. Each time I watch it, it brings chills to think without Walt Disney all of these great films would have never been.
Paperman (2012) – Academy Award® Winner, Kristina Reed, John Kahrs Paperman was one that I hadn’t seen before and I loved it. It was kind of a love story of how things happen sometimes for reasons you just can’t explain. My older niece who is 13 got it, but the younger 8 year old wasn’t that impressed with this one.
Tangled Ever After (2012) – Nathan Greno, Aimee Scribner, Mark Kennedy made our living room erupt with laughter several times. This talented trio brought to life Tangled once again and showed us things that I would have never thought possible.
The Ballad of Nessie (2011) – Kevin Deters, Stevie Wermers-Skelton, Dorothy McKim Made me think of Puff the Magic Dragon and or Dragon Tales meets the new world! The story was adorable though and a must watch for all kids!
Tick Tock Tale (2010) – Dean Wellins Might be my favorite short yet, but I sure did enjoy it. We all need to remember that even the smallest mistakes need fixing, and that we are worth fixing! Just like the damaged clock that saved the day!
Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa (2010) – Kevin Deters, Stevie Wermers-Skelton, Dorothy McKim! This one was the girls’ favorite and I enjoyed “Betty White” voicing Mrs. Clause. After a few wild twists and turns the result of the prep and landing was revealed and it made everyone light up when the present was given.
How to Hook Up Your Home Theater (2007) – Kevin Deters, Stevie Wermers-Skelton, Ian Gooding starring Goofy was the perfect mix of the original 40’s character trying to live in the current technology day and age. I laughed so hard I about cried because Goofy has my technological abilities!
The Little Matchgirl (2006) – Academy Award® Nominated, Dave Bossert, Tom MacDougall This one made me tear up a lot! The Little Match girl took a different journey with each match she lit, and at long last the grandmother rescued her. Which made me tear up even more because she was finally loved which is what we all want.
Lorenzo (2004) – Academy Award® Nominated, Mike Gabriel We didn’t like this one at all at and I’m not sure why. It was cute, but it wasn’t as “cute” as the rest of them. But
John Henry (2000) – Mark Henn! This one is the first one and I loved it! It brought back to life the tall tales and it had such a soulful feel. I could watch it on repeat, and this one the 8 year old love while the 13th year old wasn’t so impressed. But I did shed a tear or two!
I loved that the filmmakers brought their stories to life and tell a little bit of the “behind” the scenes action to make it come to life for kids everywhere.
