Simple Ways To Personalize Your Wedding

Frugal living

Planning and coordinating a wedding can take a lot of time and hard work, and for this reason, more couples are opting to hire wedding planners or are depending on their parents to take care of the most important details of their special day. According to a recent survey, one in three couples in the US hire a wedding planner, while more than 80 percent of parents are heavily involved in the decision making regarding the wedding. But despite having other people involved in the process, some couples are still finding ways to put their personal touch on their nuptials in order to create a day that’s truly theirs. If you’re looking to have a wedding that’s authentically yours, here are a few simple ways to do it.

Make a wedding playlist

Playing a compilation of your favorite songs on your wedding day is one of the easiest ways to personalize your celebration. Choose your song for walking down the aisle, then have someone sing another song that means a lot to you and your partner at some point during the ceremony. You should also think about making a playlist for your reception that will encourage people to get moving on the dance floor. The key to making a great dance playlist is to mix current hits with classic favorites, so make sure there’s a little bit of Earth Wind and Fire there (September), a bit of Michael Jackson (Pretty Young Thing), along with some Dua Lipa (Don’t Start Now) and BTS (Dynamite).

Ask a friend or relative to officiate

If you’re not having a religious ceremony, ask a mutual friend or your favorite relative to be your officiant. It’s more personal than having a stranger officiate, and it’s more appealing for couples who are not actively practicing a religion. Your friend or family member can get ordained online at a non-denominational ministry’s website such as Wanderlust Bay Ministries, First Nation Church, The Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster, or The Universal Life Church Ministries. All they have to do is fill out a form, pay the ordination fee, then check their email for confirmation. Once that’s done, you can discuss what they should wear and write, then do a practice run before the dress rehearsal. If you plan to have a loved one officiate, make sure that they complete the registration process at least six months before your wedding.

Serve a snack that represents both of you

At the reception, plan on serving a snack or food item that represents both of you or is an important part of your relationship. For instance, if you and your significant other met while queuing at the cupcake shop, consider serving some cupcakes from that store– your friends will get a kick out of it. Or maybe you had a meet-cute moment at the coffee shop and the barista switched your drinks. If that’s the case, serve coffee in cups with your names written on them. It’s a great way to be reminded of how everything began and how far you’ve come on your journey as a couple.

Giving your wedding a personal touch can make it more meaningful for you, your partner, and everyone who’ll be attending the celebration. Consider these tips to personalize your wedding and enjoy your special day!
